Make Grilles Bullet-Stopping
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):So I was just observing today and saw this.
5 Marines inside a Table and Grille FORT, with the Grilles electrified. 2 Sentry Turrets shooting THROUGH the tables and the Grilles hitting aliens, and the Aliens couldn't do a damn thing about it.
And you know what. It made me Mad. I so sick and tired of Marines Building Small Fort Knoxs to escape the aliens, so I wanted to make it were Grilles cant have Bullets pass through them. Because when bullets can pass through a tight-knit block of Metal rods that can stop Breaching. It breaks me Immersions
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): It may actual bring about so more Marine/Alien Balance. Makes Senses. Will help balance (I hope) because the Aliens dont have anything that lets Acid go through them.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):Grilles would get destroyed/Damaged when hit by Bullets not just the Bullet Phase through them.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Code?

Re: Make Grilles Bullet-Proof
We made it shoot through them.
But a nerf would even the odds.

Re: Make Grilles Bullet-Proof
They already have 20-ish % to stop a bullet and damage the grille. I think the better solution would be to allow Spitter's acid spit to melt them down once hit.

It just kinda heats me up that marines can elec Grilles then Shoot through them, and the Aliens can no longer claw them, forcing them to go out into the Open to spit acid on them

Re: Make Grilles Bullet-Stopping
I'd +1 this.
I've actually more or less stopped playing because I've got a feeling how most of the rounds are ending up: Aliens board the Sulaco and end up in a literal death-trap of grilles and tables and can do nothing to escape. They're royally screwed. Especially when there's at least 2 combat ready squads waiting in the hangar as well.

That isn't always the case though, it really depends on the round and the timezone you play in.Wickedtemp wrote: I've actually more or less stopped playing because I've got a feeling how most of the rounds are ending up: Aliens board the Sulaco and end up in a literal death-trap of grilles and tables and can do nothing to escape. In my opinion I would personally rather just have them break after being shot through X amount of times, or something like that. ( I know you can destroy grilles by shooting at them, but this would add in the fact that if a bullet passes through the grille it would take off abit of it's health.)

Re: Make Grilles Bullet-Stopping
Exactly my point, because of the times I'm normally able to play, literally all I see is marine victory after marine victory due to a hangar fortress made of grilles and tables 2-3 layers deep surrounding the entire shuttle. It's killed the fun of the game for me as a xeno and marine, the only reason I'd log on somewhat recently was to see if I couldn't have a bit of an RP as Military Police, which tends to be a hit-or-miss.Mr. Penguin wrote: That isn't always the case though, it really depends on the round and the timezone you play in.

Re: Make Grilles Bullet-Proof
I've never seen that happen. That, or the bullets deal so little damage that the marines have no qualms about shooting through them. I'm surprised that the grills are actually non-destructible via slashing. And when acid is the only means of removing it, that's as effective a defense as an entire reinforced wall, minus the need for plasteel, and adding the ability to shoot through it!Infernus wrote:They already have 20-ish % to stop a bullet and damage the grille. +1 I think Infernus's idea is a good alternative if Butter's idea is rejected

Re: Make Grilles Bullet-Stopping
Unless it was removed recently, acid globs damage grilles and destroy them in about 2 hits. And I mean removed really recently because I was able to do this like last week or so. It just doesn't seem like a widely known thing so Spitters and Praes don't do it very often

It's in, but largely unknown and grossly underutilized.Daisuke08 wrote:Unless it was removed recently, acid globs damage grilles and destroy them in about 2 hits. However, I'm pretty sure that bullets damaging grills on pass through is NOT in. I have never seen one destroyed by marines shooting.

Re: Make Grilles Bullet-Stopping
Bullets do not currently damage grilles, but heavy spit does, and makes them irrelevant.

Re: Make Grilles Bullet-Stopping
Definite -1. Grilles are the closest thing to barbed wire that we can get right now. If we get barbed wire or something of the sort, then I'll support this, as long as grilles don't change in any other way. But barbed wire would need to work very differently from grilles while still being useful to even merit its inclusion.

Re: Make Grilles Bullet-Stopping
If you want to balance things then try and fix metal barricades. Plasteel cades are ridiculously effective against xenos and in my opinion need to be nerfed. Removing grilles will take too much away from the marines.
