Customizable helmets and armour
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): being able to customize armour and helmets , like how you're able to customize your revolver as detective on tg.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Adds more immersion with custom armour
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): it would work by when you click on the armour when you have it on your body , you can customize it with decals and such
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): I honestly wouldn't know how to implement it

We have several variants of armor, but no way to currently change them. The type is selected randomly on spawn

Nothing's lost by being able to change it manually instead of searching every locker or vending armor until you get the one you want. 1+

Hm. Just my thoghts.
In character edit menu special submenu "Customizable".
What should be there? Options for changing visuals. For example, right now

What if we choose variants in that submenu, save them, after entering game, all armor, helmets (whatever else can be customized) will change sprite to those, what we chose? Like, for example. We have 4 kinds of armor sprites and 3 for helmets. I choose 2nd armor sprite and 3rd helmet sprite. When I pick up armor and helmet and put them on me, they change their sprites to what I chose. (kinda, I modified them to suits me while getting dressed. If I take them off and another player with different set up put them on, they will change sprites to what player chose. We have several variants of armor, but no way to currently change them. That might create a few conflicts with the donor gear, but nothing that would be difficult to fix. Hard mode, allow donors to actually select whether or not they want their gear to reskin to standard marine gear or whatever they donated for. Then maybe we can finally eliminate spawning with backpacks. I don't really like the idea of re-skinning armor on the fly, but this just sounds like the best possible compromise to me.

Neutral
no im not a fucking n+++ but this sounds both awesome and bad,YEAH ITS GREAT,but its kinda beating the sense about donor gear of having your own modified gear
now it could come down to what you modify, the type of armor?color?
Also Coders would be dead before being able to code this

Well in truth armies need to look universally the same for identification purposes, and I think helmet customization is being worked on.

Re: Customizable helmets and armour
1. (Clothing & Fashion) a prescribed identifying set of clothes for the members of an organization, such as soldiers or schoolchildren
And, as an adjective,
1. Always the same, as in character or degree; unvarying: planks of uniform length.
It makes sense for uniform to NOT be all that customizable. On the other hand, a tiny detail or two would go a long way towards ensuring that individiuality everybody loves.
On the other hand, if you're just talking about methods of selecting the customization from a list we already have, sure, why not.

If you get to choose from a variety of the marine armours already in, then +1

What if the regular marine armor worked like the chameleon jump suit? Where in hand you right click to "change snowflake" to change it to any of the different versions available. Not sure how to add or prevent getting people's donator gear though. Also haveing that would cut down on the massive piles of armor in the prep room with marines that want that skull pic on their armor.

Re: Customizable helmets and armour
Well, just limit the armor to a different pool of armor variants. So you have normal marine armor, one with a skull, one with an AMERICAN flag variant, one with the USCM logo...Doc Vulpus wrote:What if the regular marine armor worked like the chameleon jump suit? Re: Customizable helmets and armour
This is a blast from the past. We may have some ability to customize armor+helmet, but the actual customization of armor may be left for donors only. Denying this for now.
