Bring back the Ammo Satchel.

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Self explanatory, bring back the pre-alpha ammo box / Ammo satchel.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): With the new burst fire, the M4s consume ammunition like crazy, you can emtpy up to 3 mags in a single fight, ressuplying is now more needed than ever, and the ammo satchel, more lore friendly than the ammo box in terms of aliens, could be a solution to the supply problems.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Just a bag with 21 squares for ammunition objects.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): It was already in, it's a removed feature.

I've suggested instead making the box refill magazines when clicked on, but everyone went "ew logistics, are you expecting me to pick up my magazines are you crazy".

But no matter in what way it returns, it should return. +1.

Now that we can expended our ammo three times more,we'll need some way to keep our selves sustained with more bullets in our belts and what not.

I haven't tested it yet about firing all my rounds in three round bursts but I can tell that we need more ammo.

Would love for this to come back personally just due to how this also solves the issue of people using lockers to do what the ammo bag/satchel use to do as well as being valuable to a squad.

+1 I miss the things, never really understood why they went away, was a hand carried item with talk about it being strappable to armor for SLs or support characters to dole out mags.

While that would be cool, it does sound a bit overpowered, especially if it work on specialist weapons. If people wanna bitch about collecting mags, their loss. Not like you HAVE to do it and its something marines could during the quiet moments to scavenge mags dropped in a firefight.

I pretty sure the old ammo box let you click on piles of ammo to scoop them up.

I'm tentatively in favor of this if as long as it doesn't actually hold physical magazines. The lag that would be induced if the ammo satchel guy ever got eaten would make me cry. A backpack-sized item that the SL could give to a standard would be sweet to have, though.

If I recall correctly you never could put the ammo duffelbag/satchel in a slot on your person, which would mean that it could never be devoured but only melted.To stop it from melting there. Could be some. Fancy reason like.. "The finest materials of the land were used to create said bag" well something like that if we wanted the bag to be unmeltable.

Reworking a bag that does some special thing to refill mags or whatever so you don't have to carry the mags around is a bit retarded, because this is a very simple object that'd require no work, it's just a bag, that holds 3 lines of specific ammo items, it creates as much lag as it did pre-alpha, none, or like three bags.

The satchel is the lore-wise correct option, Apone collected the HE 10mm mags into a satchel so the fragile equipment didn't result in a nuclear explosion, the ammo satchel is prefered from me over the box.

So summed it up:
It's an "Ammo bag" Item for the standards, just one per squad.
It holds 3 lines of ammo specific objects.
You can equip it in your backpack slot.
Fits grenades and grenade assemplies too, without expending extra ammo slots, same for shotgun shells. (Like a backpack, which can hold 7 shotgun shell boxes without needing extra space).

If it's a bag it's going to get eaten. In which case I'm going to go with a -1 just because that would delete so many objects at once it might just break the server.

Problem with it being a backpack that contains physical copies of ammo is that it's going to be deleted when a marine gets eaten. Even if it's completely unintentional it would result in several hundred items being deleted at once which isn't going to be fun for anyone.

Same with 3 backpacks, it was before, it could be acided because it was in your hand, if it can't be a pack it goes in your hand, appart from making the carrier only be able to carry sidearms and the SMG, the aliens can still acid it and it's the same thing.

+1 only if it's a box you carry in your hands, otherwise it'd be pretty lame.

Alternatively, make it a box of bullets that you click empty magazines on to fill them so marines are more inclined to pick up their empty magazines.

Even though Marines are op with dem bursts this should be added later on when Xeno get their big buffs. +1 though.

Given the guns on burst suck more than a cheap wh vacuum cleaner or some other family friendly mental image, I'd say this would be pretty helpful.

So, my thoughts on this: The ammo satchel is an extra large item. It can be carried in the hand or mounted on the back (or maybe the belt). Clicking on it with a magazine refills that magazine to full.

Thoughts on how it would look mechanically:
You would place the box on the ground so it can be reloaded, possibly needing to "deploy" it to the ground to prevent people from dragging it everywhere (in lore: the box is opened, and spilling bullets everywhere while moving is bad)
You would have to stand still for 2 seconds and do no other actions, since reloading is a patient process
(Does the player just click on a box with a magazine in hand and wait two seconds? Can he load two magazines at once? Or does the box work by stuffing it with "x" magazines and having it vend the magazines back out after a few seconds filled up via a machine loading process ala autolathe style?)

Who carries the box? Is it available to only 1 class? Engineers? Squad leaders? Specialists? Can you order more?

Personally, it might make sense for it to be present in the sqaud leaders vendor, 1 per squad, able to be used by anyone. Maybe also have 1 or 2 in Cargo that could be sent out. Possibly could order more from the cargo list. There could also be one present on the colony somewhere, which would both solve the ammo crisis of the survivors, while not being overpowered in that you cant print out more magazines, and losing a magazine means your in trouble.

To control unlimited ammo generation, you have to fill it with a few sheets of metal every so often maybe.

If you wanted to balance it a little more due to maybe 4 unlimited sources of ammo generation going on + maybe 1 on the colony, you might just only have 1 or 2 in the cargo room that can be sent out if asked for. Extra Satchels cost about 50 cargo points to order.

Personally I'd rather see that the ammo satchel was put back in how it use to be, loading a boat laod of ammo into it from the vendors and carrying it around.

Would also make sense if Requisitions could order them as they are basically glorified backpacks mechanic wise, Oh it would also stop the current eye sore of seeing a load of belts on the ground at an Fob because requisitions could just dump all the ammo into the satchels.

In regards of how many there use to be per prep room, it was one and that one started off in the standard area so that anyone could load it up with ammo.
