Run, boy, run,

Post by Boltersam » 22 Jan 2016, 14:53

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Essentially, give Xenos a verb to switch to a "running mode, for the lower tier castes. None of the big bad tier 3s. Aliens will get slightly faster than marines, but will be limited in terms of interaction, ie: they cannot use abilities while in this mode.

Right now aliens are slower than marines, which I have issue with, I mean, they're long-limbed, bipedal aliens that in the movies and games can go quadrupedal, and are living weapons. You kinda expect them to be fast, lethal, agile hunters compared to the slouching denizens of humanity.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): small, low-tier aliens will be able to move quickly from location to location, and can reposition quickly to better cover, close to the enemy so that they can begin an assault, etcetera. Marines will actually be dealing with quick and agile animals rather than slow-moving hugger-holders, and will have to use more skill to aim.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Shown above.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Coding? I don't have much experience with this, but I'm sure it'll be doable.

I would quite like to see this in but I do think it should possibly cost plasma to stop it from being abused i.e a low tier alien running around the map while no staff are on etc.

Yeah, I want it to be limited so it's only used for transportation and dodging, I don't want this to become the "Hunting pack runs, reaches marine postion, leaps over barricades and onto marines, effectively render that side of the Nexus overrun."

It would be cool if xenos formed hunting packs which used this with tactics to pounce on marines, but fast aliens + abilities will get a lot of salt from the marine side, so it's gotta be limited.

Sum this up to the "Huggers only from eggs" where aliens can't handle huggers, you got yourself a bunch of hunting packs.

-1. Im pretty sure aliens move as fast if not faster than marines nowadays. Move to close thread?

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!

You know this was WAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in the day, when Aliens were slower than any human?

Nowadays, they're fast enough.

Please don't revive this months old thread.

Again, we revive threads so we can close them. Alot of the staff are busy working on other parts of CM and dont have time to go through the 11 pages of suggestions and give each of them the full quality look throughs they deserved. Its up to us to either make sure a thread is fully examined to help the staff close it off for good by either resolving or denying it. You can call threadmancy on me, but its the only way to get through all these posts. You gotta take out the old before you can move in with the new.

* also to edit: as you yourself pointed out, this thread has already been resolved just from updates to aliens alone. Its important that staff moves this thread to resolved so after 3 days it will be moved out of the "suggestions" forum and into the "resolved" forum. Free's up space, makes it easier on people to scroll through suggestions, eases the staff workload so they dont spend time going through redundant suggestions. I dont suggest spamming the thread with 2 pages of necromancy posts, but every so often i will find 3-5 of the older posts and cycle them to the front page to see if theyre found wanting.
