+1 if it can be done, but AFAIK, it would need a designated LZ where it would "crash."

All you had to was kill the demm spec ravager.Egorkor wrote:No, the queen takes her family to space Cluckin' Bell and goes full Big Smoke.
I know how to do it. If I know, they probably know. Aaaaaaaaand seamless segue to a shameless plug of my dev application!LordLoko wrote: All you had to was kill the demm spec ravager.
Anyway. +1, just have no idea how the devs would do it.

The shuttle exploding part would be massively overpowered and give the marines a guaranteed 50% chance of winning every time. The RP idea here is that the queen said fuck it and just slashed the computer to bits after launch, effectively ruining the autopilot. All the code for shuttles and shit is already there, just make a new one partially embedded in different parts of the sulaco.Pilcrow wrote:Only if there's an equal chance that the shuttle gets lost in space or outright explodes, killing everything aboard.
But seriously, not only would this be a nightmare to code due to how shuttles are handled (taking every item inside a shuttle area, recording its relative x-y position, and then meticulously moving it over to the next shuttle area while ignoring anything that doesn't fit) it would be a nightmare ingame because it effectively removes an important resource from play without really adding much to the game, as well as potentially forming breaches, making breaches easier, or just straight-up deleting things it shouldn't.
Also, chances are the shuttles are on autopilot anyway, since they're just set to change destinations with a single button and the 'pilot' can then go fuck about in the back.
that was a joke, doofus.MadSnailDisease wrote: The shuttle exploding part would be massively overpowered and give the marines a guaranteed 50% chance of winning every time. The entire idea is so that it won't. It would be balanced and random enough so that the aliens would be basically guaranteed to win, which apparently is what boarding was intended to be.Lostmixup wrote:I like it, but it could cause some weird end game turtling.
Provided there is an action text revolving around the mastery of "Face smash button".MadSnailDisease wrote:But then in that situation lesser aliens should be able to slap the button too
