I'm of two minds on this. First was that it does feel a little bit like power gaming, but on the other hand there is a precedent in the movies. In the second movie Aliens the marines were ordered to surrender their munitions for fear of setting off an explosion in the facility. However, the second their CO's back was turned they all promptly pulled a variety of weapons from pistols to a shotgun out of their asses. From that standpoint, it seems kind of fitting.

The issue is not pulling out sidearms or holdouts (Hicks's shotgun) but the idea that they would have then pulled out a second M41. It's kind of a bad metaphor, though, as the M41s and M56s fired explosive rounds and they didn't want to rupture the primary heat exchanger (Vasquez and Drake did anyway) the 12 gauge, incinerator units, VP70s fired standard ammunition and wouldn't damage the plant.

If your point is that I'm against this rule because I'm a marine player, you're wrong. I don't carry two rifles with me, I carry a primary rifle and a secondary pistol. The only reason I'm defending BSA here is because you're throwing out his argument because YOU are a butt hurt xeno.

-1

wayyyy too many gray area's created. What if I pick up two rifles during combat?

Also, taking two rifles into battle isn't power gaming in the slighest. Getting attachments isn't easy, and reloading takes an extra input step when you have two of the same weapon on you, and I think we can all agree that rambo-type characters in these movies can be seen duel-wielding rifles with a smoking cigar in their mouths spray-n-praying with a grin.

Sometimes when I play standard, I take M41A in suit slot and shotgun instead of backpack. I don't like using two rifles, but sometimes on battlefield I pick up lying M41A instead of one in my suit slot. For different reasons.

Yeah, I feel this is meta and annoying whenever I see it, as an alien or marine +1

-1, we should be able to carry 2 weapons in my opinion, switching guns would be faster than reloading, and different rifles can have different roles. Thats like saying bringing an SMG would be metagaming because someones hand can be chopped off. This is my view on it anyway.

Pffffftttt.

On a serious note, -1. If a marine wants to bring along a backup rifle for its UGL, then let him.

This was brought up again? Huh, funny. How author thought about enforcing it? Making a rule? And getting flashmob of every single marine taking two rifles? Leave those rifles alone. I hate to see marines with three rifles. Though I have sometimes two: one sniper variant with scope and grip, and second back up with harness, GL, bayonet.

Basically Im not against enforcement of realistic loadouts, but theres literally no possibility to carry both main weapon (rifle, shotgun or specs weapons) and secondary weapon like smg or pump shotgun because 1) theres no holsters on standard armor\belts\webbing for even simple pistol (yes, you can technically put m4a1 pistols in pocket or drop in bag now, but not in actual separate holster which every soldier has IRL this days), 2) only pistols, magnums and smgs may be counted as secondary weapons in game right now and lets face it - they sucks in terms of main weapons, acting only as back up one (without taking special munition into account).

Personally I use second rifle with flashlight and standard clip until it depletes after what I just dropping gun on the ground,
transforming empty gun into portable light source (because in future, things called night vision scopes and goggles, which you can buy IRL in every hunting store for a small price, become so damn rare that you need lots of flashlights and flares to lit space around you).-1

This would be impossible to enforce. Denied.
