Allow folded roller beds to fit into backpacks or add a new collapsible stretcher

Post by Edgelord » 06 Feb 2016, 11:05

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Either make it so folded roller beds could fit into backpacks or add a new stretcher that can collapse and fit into one.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): On the battlefield, medics often have to deal with people that shouldn't be moving. The issue is, unless he/she is dragging a rollerbed around there is little that they can do for these people short of grab-intent dragging. 90% of the time people disregard injury and regular drag anyway, so I figured the marines would benefit from having a better way to save downed marines.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): The medical vendor could add folded roller beds or a combat stretcher, both of which can fit into a backpack or satchel.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Coding magic

Neutral here, as they can still click on it to get out, unless you make it apply a instant-knockout mujic on them, its just gonna be same preety much

I think this is a great idea. As a medic, you have to balance out medical supplies and your own gear/ammo, as such you're pretty hard pressed for space in that backpack as it as and if you choose to have an entire slot be taken up by one rollerbed, i think that's pretty reasonable.

I personally support this. Folding roller beds being capable of being stuffed into backpacks would not only alleviate pressure on the medics on healing wounds caused by dragging, but it doesn't add anything to the firepower of the marines or the xenos. It's merely a convenience feature, which I personally believe wouldn't unbalance the game too much. My two cents, anyways.

There's been talk of this. I might make one.

Doesn't seem terribly imbalancing, and if you ever do decide to removing cloning this will give combat medicine a nice boost.

Yeah, if we remove cloning, combat medics will get some stability assistance.

+1. I support removing cloning too in exchange for this. It lets medics learn and get better to stabilize patients instead of thinking they will be cloned anyway if they die.

It'll also end to "they are gonna burst, lemmie shoot them in the head" thinking.

This kinda thinking does make sense, but if it happens it should be impactful apon the players. I have had to do this, like once, and the regret I showed made it feel less like "whelp, easy way out".

What i mean is the whole "the cloner is right there, the doctor is busy, let me speed this up" situations.

-1 Combat medics IRL don't get stretchers, they might get those little sheets on poles but thats it, and it would look funky to fit either of these into bags.

I think this is one of those gameplay supercedes reality things. If you get a broken bone on the field, you're either getting your insides shredded or someone has to drag you at a snail's pace.

Those sheets with the poles are called stretchers or litters.

They super-easily fit into backpacks, because the poles collapse.

We can't make two marines pull the same thing without seriously coding, even then I don't think it's possible to make a 2 man lift-stretcher, so just make the folded stretchers fit into backpacks, It's really, really, simple.

You could always make it so the medics backpack has a special slot for the folding beds like the PDA does with the pens?

+1. Unless this constitutes removing cloning(which in and of itself is the worst decision ever imo). In which case it gets -1. Really shouldn't get small editions for the removal of a major focal medical point. It DOES get used more than people think.

If this were added, I'd always have a stretcher in my backpack. Hope it comes soon!

Ahhh Honestly I neutral to this idea but I think the removal of cloning is already set in stone, its been on the back burners for a while now and it'll disappear whenever apop decides. Of course I believe defibs will be buffed or some new mechanics are being added to replace cloning. Don't quote me on that though

Same. Medics are over encumbered as is (I mean I can't even put a health analyzer in my lifesaver belt), letting me carry a stretcher, arguably one of the most important pieces of kit a medic needs, would go a long way.

+1 If I could give a +2 on this I would, as a combat medic I usually carry an SMG in one hand and a folded roller bed in the other for transporting people with broken bones twice as fast. It's something that'd I love to see, especially if cloning is getting a kick in the pants very soon.

+1

It makes sense, helps move injured marines, and adds to gameplay.

+1. The only problem i could see would be standard marines stuffing stretchers in their bag, but thats balanced out by the low amount of stretchers and that the marines would want to fit other stuff inside the bags instead.
