Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Add Concussive Rocket shells, which would be non-lethal and would not damage the surrounding environment.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): This would give SADAR Specialists the option to be a crowd-controller rather than a straight damage unit. This would also allow SADAR to be a viable choice on the Prison Map, as there would be no fear of breaching.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Instead of just having the SADAR, one of the options with the coin would be SADAR (Concussive). This would spawn the default SADAR with special shells that do zero environmental damage but do negligible brute and knock down everyone within its target impact vicinity. This knockdown would be more considerable than the HE/AP shells but the aliens would still be able to get up. The RO could order more rockets if needed. ALTERNATIVELY the concussive shells could just be in the specialist machine without the need of a coin.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): New sprite and some coding

While this idea may indeed seem good at first glance, and fix the breach issues in the Prison Map, it will unbalance conflict in several other ways, making it a nightmare for Xenos on several moments.
Let's take a look at the Prison Map. Composed mostly by small corridors and chokepoints, it seems like the perfect place to use a SADAR with Concussive Shells. In fact, you could not be more wrong. The narrow corridors and small rooms make it easy for Xenos to simply lure marines into wasting ammunition, mostly when the concussive shells cause -NO- damage at all. Furthermore, Xenos seldom move alone, unless T-1, which isn't worth wasting SADAR ammo on.
Furthermore, the Prison is known for infamous friendly fire incidents and we can all imagine how it would be when some rambo marine shot a concussive shell into a group of 7 other marines, allowing Xenos to have the win of a lifetime.
As it stands, we alredy see two problems with the proposal regarding the prison map:
- Waste of ammunition and time to create the object.
- Prone to friendly fire accidents which cause severe unbalancing and prone to round loss.
As to the planet map, the last thing Xenos need is to have people shooting SADAR knockouts like they were bb guns without fear of consequences because let's face it, there are none. People would just SADAR concussive shells the shit out of anything that moved because no consequences. An FOB with two concussive shell SADARS would be almost impossible to breach since either Xenos went full suicide wave or they would be picked off one by one.
Now, the worse of it all? Xenos boarding the Sulaco. One single SADAR concussive shell inside the shuttle as soon as it lands (Remember Xenos get knocked out upon landing), and Marines get a free for all firing range. Furthermore, it would contribute to the growing problem of marines retreating back to the Sulaco everytime they lose 4 or 5 marines since they know the SADAR will make it an easy pick.
That way, my veredict is as follows: No. Weapons are situational and the strength of marines lies on tactics and coordination. This will only contribute to make marines dumber and depending on weapons more than the brain. -1

hah, no. all's above if you need it, but I personally disapprove of it because of shuttle defence.

First of all, sick reference m8.
And yes, a stun + nerfed damage would be really good, Concussion damage is a thing.
You have all my upboats, this is a way of not wasting a whole weapon because of a map, but on the Prison Map we should ONLY have this option for the SADAR, it'd be a chaos if they enable SADAR on the map and someone forgets to load his SADAR on concussion shells.

Hmm, what if the knockdown duration was equal to the regular SADAR shells? The concussive ones would still allow the use of SADAR on the prison, but just nix the explosive damage.

I approve of the Strangelove reference. And uh, I'm not really too sure about the concussive shells. Brings to mind all the moments marines were flashbanged by themselves, and the aliums rekting them.

Denied.
There's actually some current discussion/debate about removing SADAR due to it's single-map situation.
