Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): So basically when a marine ICLY is an asshole, insubordinate, or rambo an admin can punish them by giving them a short jobban (Preferably one round) in which the marine is put into Gamma, a penal squad which has no SL, Medic, or Engineer and is complete pawns on the battlefield, they wouldn't get helmets (And IDs would disallow them from vendors) and aren't allowed attachments in RO. They would have a giant Pink line through their helmet. They would be shamed upon by Other squads and command. This would last for one round and the whole round they would be muted to talk aswell, (Not sure how that works).
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Punish those who are dickheads and insubordinate ICly and make the game frustrating rather than fun for other Marines and commanding officers.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): If an admin gets multiple IC complaints (Not greif or anything severely breaking server rules) they would give them a new command/tab in the admin menu that would be called "PENALIZE" which would put said person into the penal squad for the next round, it would use the BYOND ID so that they can't skimp out on the next round by observing etc. The button would mute the player ICly, and make an OOC message shunning them. This would encourage atleast some form of believable RP and would eliminate a small chance of greifers, and would allow noobs to observe and learn from their mistakes.
Implementation: Not sure how this would work code wize, but im sure the ID thing would be an easy thing for the coders to work in.
Things to note: People would be put in Pink helmets, not be allowed attachments from RO, they wouldn't have their own BO console, or briefing area, or armory section. They would also be muted from speaking or emoting the entire round, and while im not sure if you can ANTAG ban that would be a good thing to have aswell.

Re: Penal squad (Not a good thing)
This seems like it would require too much effort, when simply banning them for a day does just as much. Allowing them to play the next round gives the griefer the opportunity to grief other marines further.
Long live our Soviet motherland,
Built by the people's mighty hand.
Long live our people, united and free.
Strong in our friendship tried by fire.
Long may our crimson flag inspire,
Shining in glory for all men to see.

Re: Penal squad (Not a good thing)
This is a punishment for things slightly less than griefing, this would technically be a new rule if you look at it that way that would enforce RP alittle more, but also add some IC elements that make it not seem like a total outright punishment. Even if it did replace greifing they would still know who to look after more, because you know pink helmets rite?Stalin wrote:This seems like it would require too much effort, when simply banning them for a day does just as much. You got my hopes high with this thread, I expected some actual mechanics for IC penal squads... and it was just an "alternative" to banning that pretty much still allows them to play... I demand my half a minute back.
But on topic of IC penal squads, every time a marine disobeys enough for command to consider execution, but doesn't break any rules, I poke the MP instead deploy him as a meatshield/mine detector. In the end, everyone is happy.

Re: Penal squad (Not a good thing)
I could see this getting interesting, but scratch the muting part. We could get midround semi-antags who are similar to a suicide squad. They get shittier guns and makeshift armor, but are still criminals and psychopaths.
