Fuel tanks explode when corrosive acid is spit on them after a bit.
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
have them explode instead of just disappearing.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
random RP. Have them take the 3 minutes to explode or whatever.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
I think it will just kind of be more fun. Never know when they will blow! Plus it makes sense.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
boom

Acid causing a sudden rupture of a tank filled with combustible fuel, that is under pressure, to go boom-boom makes a lot of sense indeed. +1
Fun to be had, time to be glad.

Let's not forget that whatever we use as welder fuel in SS13 can be ignited with a single spark or a match, and acid actually generates a lot of heat while doing it's thing. +1.

That doesn't exactly make sense. Corrosion causes leaking, not explosions.
Also, I'd rather not throw "random-explosions" into the mix.

The acid eat's through metal at high rates of speed. I'd imagine for us to "make sense" of it, we'd have to know what the acid is. I figured it would just balance things out. having fuel tanks waiting for the xeno sully landing is pretty regular these days.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicic_acid
That would be most likely candidate for acid from silicon based life-forms.

Ok dont ban me but what about the fuel source? Helium 3? Now someone tell me what happens when a helium 3 cannister is ruptured by acid.

1. The Helium 3 leaks out
2. Welder Fuel is not helium 3, it's closer to acetylene

silicic acid is actually a super weak acid and can be found floating around in the ocean, and used in beverages.
I'd say sulfuric acid and trioxide would be closer, considering both can straight eat through shit.

Excerpt -
Concentrated sulfuric acid can catch fire or explode when it comes into contact with many chemicals including acetone, alcohols, and some finely divided metals.

I saw last night it said, "Spitter spits corrosive acid on fuel tank (WARNING EXPLOSION)" or something to that effect. Should have screened it.

I'm pretty sure the (WARNING EXPLOSION) is part of the name of whatever got spit on.

it's probably been that praetorian, I posted it in dsay however there was a fight and it might have been a stray bullet, just test it whenever you're a spitter or praetorian.

Re: Fuel tanks explode when corrosive acid is spit on them after a bit.
-1. i would agree with apop that corrosive acid alone wouldnt explode the tank, and having corroding tanks explode seems like a slightly bad idea. Maybe after the welder tank is melted it could release a 3x3 pool of welder fuel, but that would be it and another suggestion in its own right. Anyone elses thoughts or is this thread ended?

-1 to explosion after corrosion. Currently, if you want it to explode just use any sentinel/spitter/prae caste and spit at the tank.

Going to deny this. Probably no real reason to have them explode.
