But if we readd succumbing, without making it an early burst, it'll just make it much easier for marines to deny aliens larvae, and then marines could kill themselves by going into softcrit by chewing their hands off, which isn't stopped by nests or cuffs.

but they could do it earlier? nobody have seemed to have an issue with literally every point that's been brought up against succumbing, until vassada had reported a bug that wasn't reproduced and had just resulted in the removal of the succumbing as a whole for no reason. and then - whew, people are suddenly worried about succumbing making it back in.

Just reduce the critical state time.

It beats me how a normal human can be in a critical state without medical assistance for so long.

I've said it countless times, why isn't it in? So what if marines deny alien larva. Aliens shouldn't GET larva if they're going to slash their hosts until they almost die/break bones so they can do jackshit/paincrit them so they can do jackshit. Most people don't even know how to hand chew anyways.

+1

If retarded alien players are just going to abuse the fact that infected near crit hosts can't die in twenty minutes or so, just let succumbing change their mind.

I've been in favor of this, but with our latest hand chewing exploit, I'm going to say I'm heavy neutral, leaning towards negative one. You may have succumbing, which was a legitimate tactic, or you may have hand chewing. I can already feel my skin crawling if you can succumb with this hand chewing stuff.

OR make critical marines not suitable for larvas. Add a verb for the alien after checking the pulse of someone.

Like: "..This specimen doesn't seem healthy enough for infection."

If a crit. marine get's hugged, the larva won't burst at all (until the marine is healed, then the process will keep going)

How about this? Succumbing = larva instantly bursts if infected because you succumb to the larva within, but you're now a ghost that can be cloned. Might put a hold to those who think they might be rescued.

read above, it's going to further encourage it.
now seeing as the arguments are repeating, let me repeat for the god knows which time. people have been playing before with succumbing and even the most pro-alien players here were okay with it seeing as it was never suggested to be removed. once that bugreport and this thread went up, all of a sudden the succumbing became a nerf to aliens and an issue in general - but it's not. it's what we had before and it worked, so no, there's nothing to trade for. no instant burst, no other bullshit like that, it's plain goddamn simple - return succumbing in the original form or not and leave it as is. again. no other bullshite tradeoffs for both sides that will not solve the problem. and no, it's also not only about the infected and the suicide in the hive meme.

As we now have resin cuffs and nest camping isn't needed as much, this should probably be added back in.
