Make Suicide Nading upon Nesting against the Rules

Post by Xperia15 » 26 Feb 2016, 14:42

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Basically, most of the times when a marine gets captured and nested by the Xeno's, they try to suicide nade themselves by pulling theirself out of the nest, and arming 1, 2 grenades on themselves.
Not only does this kill themselves, it also kills other marines in the nests near them, and it can kill aliens who try to put them down.
It's almost unpreventable because you don't have always an alien babysitting marines 24/7 at the nests. You can do this action very fast, just resist, pull yourself up and arm them. This can be done within 5 seconds.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Preventing hosts from killing themselves or killing other marines, so that their larva in them still can be born.On low pop, this is disastrous because with just 2 nades you can kill up to 5 other marines laying next to them in a X shape.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Give the persons a warning or a job ban/temp ban if he breaks the rule too often or too many times.
There is no direct rule that prevents marines from Suiciding, and while there is somesort of rule, it still happens way too often for me to not make an post about it.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Just add it to the rules list.

as far as I know, suicide before you see the bursting is not allowed, otherwise it is, so this is kind of in the rules.

-1. As Egor said its already partially against the rules. And if you're tired of marines killing marines in an X pattern perhaps you should store them in a different method?

1. While annoying, but its possible to put down a marine back into a nest in *LESS THAN 1 SECOND*, which is frustrating
2. I think we have enough rules for now
3. Very hard to monitor
4. Its actually hard to do this, as i said, its easy to put down a host rather fast
5. Some dedicated players are able to 24/7 marines, and marines tend to be rather durable in taking damage after being impregnated for some reason

-1 so far

The only rules i just found that may be affected by this is Rule 1, the Don't be a dick, so far nothing else about that you can't do it

I suicide 'naded myself three times and survived.
Maybe it's because I had SL armour and maybe not.

I can see how annoying this is as it does prevent them from bursting.

But on occasions I have seen this to be absolutaly pointless for the marine as the less combat able you are,the more likely you'll burst.

And I can only assume if requisitions orders a crate full of explosives OR the specialist handed grenades out OR it is the specialist that did this, then i'd be pointless as stated above.UNLESS the said marine was injured.

I can't tell if it does brute or burn damage but if the frag does brute then it would be a problem as it can lead to bleeding and all that.

On low pop I can understand that but on high pop it's a worthy tactic only if they know about the chestbursting.
Besides on high pop this.

And this.

In general, this can be thought about as an RP issue. If you think about it, the marine in question is nested, surrounded by aliens who are hell strong. He knows he probably gonna die. His only remaining consolation in life is exacting revenge on the things that did this to him.

If they don't see bursting yet it's meta, otherwise they can suicide whoever they want

As long as they KNOW that they're going to kersplode into a xeno, it... actually makes MORE sense for them to suicide with a chance of causing damage, rather than just shooting themselves.

Is it annoying? Yeah. But think of it this way... A marine isn't likely to have more than two grenades. So if they break out, pull out a nade, but you knock them down before they arm it and you re-buckle them, there goes their chance. They don't have a grenade anymore. Drag it away and acid it.

Just no.

If people want to kill themselves instead of aiding aliens by bursting and causing extra damage to hive... why would they not do it? This is just another one of those rule suggestions...

Suicide after witnessing chest bursting is a valid RP choice.

^wow spoiler.

I said this in minichat, so I'll say it there: Aliens learned honeycomb to stop people who abuse the infected status to hunt larvas and builder castes, I learned suicide 'nading as a response to honeycomb, aliens learned puppyguarding to stop me. The circle of hate is closed.

there's a way to bypass puppyguarding, so the circle is broken.

-1. At most it's meta, but IRL if I knew I was going to be the incubator for the same evolved killing machines I'd kill myself too. With a grenade, that's all the better.

If they didn't witness chest bursting or learned of it, then it's metagame. If I recall, a player complaint about that was made and the offender had a note placed on him. If it's early round, all the survivors are dead or captured and the Marine is away from others in a honeycomb when they suicide, it's safe to say they're metagaming, so report it.

What... You need to use 2 frags and 1 incendary grenade to suicide, otherwise if at least one of them didn't hit you and you get re-nested you will magically be healed to orange health.
I'm not joking, I played as Spec for some time so I know for sure what I'm talking about.

And if you let marine to use three grenades in a row, then, well, you deserved it.

A lot marines meta suicide, but still. I'd grenade myself too in a similar situation.

It's lore friendly. There are multiple instances in the movies of hosts either killing themselves or asking to be killed when infected/about to be infected.

-1 of course. If you were in a hive, marines laying there dead around you and shit tons of xenos running around what would you do? you know somehow that one of these things is gonna kill ya.Even more so if you saw your fellow marine burst.Fuck yeah I'm gonna pop a few nades and shit.If you let those marines take out the grenades and prime them then you don't deserve the extra xeno. Is really hard to do this because you got to pull the grenades out, Prime them and either store or drop(yes you don't need to do this but its gonna happen anyway) them while avoiding spit for the sentinel/spitter/prae? or maybe the xenos don't have enough sentinel caste aliens and your trying to dodge a hunter while doing this. Its very hard to do this in game unless the sentinel or whoever is guarding you is new to the game which makes it bit easier. All in all its very hard to do this so if the marines do it then prop to them. Its not like it hurts the hive as if you let this happen you probably got a bad host: sentinel ratio and thus have a lot more hosts. Its very easy to get hosts in game with a decent carrier or the likes so the hive gets them back almost straight away anyway.
