Look you clearly haven't seen the movies or don't remember them.. I don't really know how to respond to this question except for watch the movies again..

Artouris wrote:-1 There's a few reasons for this.

While I do believe its meta, you can extend the argument to almost any APC in the ship. You can say its meta that they slashed the medbay APC and thus we can't heal people, or they slashed the Cloning APC therefor we cannot clone. I don't have a major problem after thinking about it for a while.

The reasons being is that it actually adds more tension to the game. Also not to mention that once the aliens board, you should defend whats important. If you think T-comms is important then defend it, if you don't defend it then that is on the marines for failing to defend vital parts of the ship. Not to mention that the ease of repair T-comms is basically mending the wires at that point so I don't believe to be a major issue.

Also saying that aliens shouldn't be going to any APC at all because its meta, that's actually something that's fairgame in the rules. The problem is that once we remove xenos from slashing T-Comms APC, then people will petition to remove xenos from slashing ANY APC. To be honest this stuff only comes into play when xenos board the Sulaco. Which at that point is either do or die for the marines. So in the end its not that major of a problem and it fits in thematically for the fight for survival situation that has appeared.

Unless they somehow melt the equipment, you only need a pair of insulated gloves and wirecutters to get it running again. On that note, admins will already punish aliens that rush telecomms and only disable that APC. So, there's no point in this.
To be perfectly honest I don't make (notice I said make and not tell them not to) staff punish aliens that get telecoms first. Why? Because you could say "omg meta" for any apc that's slashed. What's stopping the alien from just slashing an apc right before it or right after it either? It's simply just a silly thing to enforce IMO. It's also not that hard - as you've said - to fix them, and I don't want to punish aliens for literally anything smart they could do. It's the marine's fault they're even on the sulaco.

I personally support making telecoms unbreakable so it's simply not an issue anymore. I won't cry over it not being implemented though.

I'd like you to post an example of xenomorphs in the movies or comics intentionally disabling the electricity of some place because as far as i concern, in the original movie, there was no energy in the planet because in the first place, the only living human there was a kid, which means that there were no engineers to maintain the power and components destroyed by the fight between the humans in the planet and the xenomorphs.
First of all. There was power.

Second of all. Wrong movie. That was the 2nd movie (Aliens, with an "s"), where as the original movie, (Alien), there was a single xenomorph which disabled power to the ship.

If anything I'd like it for aliens not to slash the cameras since that's equally as bad.

I've used them as BO, along with my fellow command staff. Especially to give orders after a breach. I don't mind aliens slashing camera as long as it's not instant. If an alien is alone in a room with no windows and a camera and then suddenly mehreens come in and chase it out, it might slash cameras (along with anything else it saw at its time in the room) because it links them with being found.

I also am not fond of disallowing aliens T-comm disabling.

I'm fond of not allowing aliens to beeline to Tcomms but that is an entirely different situation from a chestbursted larva being ordered by the hive to evolve and destroy everything around it. If that larva is near Tcomms and then evolves I see no problem with it destroying Tcomms as long as that's not all it destroys. I don't want a single broken APC I want smashed windows and computers and everything busted like it was ordered.

-1: reasons why:
-Disabling tellcomms does provide really good tension on the ship when it is disabled
-The apc can be VERY easily repaired as long as you have access to it
- Gameplay point of view, it allows a way for aliens to try and break the marine ladder siege which can be pretty brutal if coordinated.
- Final point: the general comms located in every room of the ship still work even when tellcomms is disabled.
Gaze upon me,
for I have wandered deep into the ancient tombs of knowledge to which lie madness and sorrow, cleansing a path for all those who walk behind me...

...

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!
