Bumping this because I still think it's a good suggestion and the discussion on it just sorta died without reaching any sort of conclusion.

Well with the necro, going to say a -1 because lets be real someone did the math and a 150 CC syringe is pretty big since thats like 2 or 3 pens behind your ear. Then we never really see safety caps to syringes at all on this server, hell they aren't even implied anywhere. I've rarely used syringes on this server just because they take so much time compared to pill or cyro and honestly if I was a doctor and I wanted to nab something for my ear slot, I would nab a squad radio since those are alot more useful to figuring out whats happening on the ground and get an idea of whos coming up (and what state they are in) since some medics refuse to ever use the medical channel since they don't know how to or forget to use a medical encryption chip for their headset

I already pretty much rebutted this point. I did the math for carry-weight, and the marines can carry over a ton of weight and run at full speed indefinitely, regardless of their training. That isn't realistic either, but in this case, gameplay took priority. And yes, this is already implemented on a few other servers and it's useful as hell. If you need a syringe, it's easily accessible and it doesn't take up one of your valuable storage slots.TheSpoonyCroy wrote:Well with the necro, going to say a -1 because lets be real someone did the math and a 150 CC syringe is pretty big since thats like 2 or 3 pens behind your ear. Re: Syringes in the ear slot!
Again this isn't about weight, it would be the awkwardness of the whole thing and honestly I'm in the camp for weight based storage compared slot based (maybe the combo of both since space is still a finite resource) but that is another topic entirely. Again if you want to put something in your ear slot another headset for something would be the better choice (with so many corpses in the morgue or ssds around they are not hard to acquire either). it would be such a niche thing that only a select few would know about such a system. So instead of a -1 maybe a stance switch to neutral since I find it wouldn't be too useful and will be rarely used but everyone has their own styleWickedtemp wrote: I already pretty much rebutted this point. Re: Syringes in the ear slot!
+0/ +1. on one hand, it strikes me as a little more power gamey to be able to stick a syringe in your ear then it does role play wise compared to the bootknife and the cigarette/eat bar in the helmet. But you could load chemicals into the cigarettes and people do get hungry.
On the other hand there would be very little people who probably would do it, and its not exactly game breaking to carry a single syringe in the back of your ear ( the other ear has the earpiece in it).
As for the realism argument, we dont want to get too involved in the specifics of how big or heavy things are or we could get stuck into the minecraft Steve's inventory dillema ( How much can Steve the human pick up in minecraft? well he can hold X amount of crates filled with X amount of solid gold blocks, no wait lets do golden apples because he can hold 60 of them, but wait then theres the sheep...)

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!

+1 to syringes
also if just for compromise, autoinjectors since most carry what, 1 unit?

Re: Syringes in the ear slot!
Well, im rebumping this and changing my opinion to a +1
Ive been playing alot of medic/research lately and having a place to store a syringe is pretty good gameplay wise. Not that many people use syringes, but for the people that do (like me) it would definitly make it less of a headache. Super nice to just pop that syringe behind the ear.
As for everyone elses arguments:
Dangerous: For the sake of gameplay, Syringes in ss13 dont have the cap on them scince it would be too pointless to pop off a syringe cap everytime you use/store a syringe. We wont use this as an argument scince we dont use it anywhere else (loose syringes in backpacks/bags/ pockets/ etc)
Too big:
Syringes in ss13 are considered *tiny* objects. Theres no other good size distinction scince ss13 uses the abstract to display things.
If it isnt too much, having a syringe be able to sit in the helmet would also be nice

Re: Syringes in the ear slot!
Doesn't make much sense from an RP perspective. You don't see doctors running around with syringes behind their ears for good reason. Denied.
