Better cloning through tumors
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
As I understand it,the main objections to cloning are that it is too easy and allows doctors to mass produce marines, and that marines play smarter when they have one life. I think that anti-cloning players are seeing correlation where they want to see it with the second point, but I agree with the first. The solution? TUMORS!!! Cloning someone, instead of dealing genetic damage and requiring cryo, produces dangerous tumors in 0-3 random places in the patient's body. These tumors need to be removed through surgery, or they will deal toxin damage over time and possibly even cause internal bleeding.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Cloning is no longer just pushing a couple buttons to make a person, quick surgical work is required to bring players back from the grave. Limited OR space and doctor time means some will choose to go alium instead of waiting for their place in the cloning line to open up. Medical competency is needed to bring players to life, preventing abuse by overzealous squad medics.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Cloning produces 0-3 tumors in the body, which have to be removed through surgery. The formula would be the same as foreign object removal, except that a scalpel would need to cut it out the step before you remove the tumor. Untreated tumors deal 1 toxin damage every 5 seconds, and after 5 minutes cause internal bleeding.

If it gets cloning to stay ..+1. Though, nothing is really needed to be changed with this. At all. Not one bit. Cloning is fine how it is. I don't get the sudden hype of removing it.

+1
For the interesting game mechanic it would add.
Also for it making the cloning process much more dependant of a proper doctor - skilled in surgery - than on a "chemistry lab expert doctor".

Re: Better cloning through tumors
I think it's because it has no place in the lore, it's creates a horrible rule (aliums can't drag people to the hive when they're dead). Along with that, it reduces the amount of alien players. To say cloning is fine how it is, is similar to saying that you will not go to the dentist because your teeth are "Just fine how they are". When everyone is hyping that you get a tooth removed because it's slowly rotting away at the rest of your mouth.

That is an extremely horrible comparison by far.SPACEpotato1 wrote: I think it's because it has no place in the lore, it's creates a horrible rule (aliums can't drag people to the hive when they're dead). And also, cloning being added or removed won't change the amount of alien players. You know what it will change? People closing the game out or tabbing out until a new round starts. Cloning being removed wont change everyone that only plays marines' minds on going xeno or not. That's not how it works. The only thing I see it doing is making the server pop take a nosedive and make rounds last longer.
Gameplay > Lore. If everything was lore accurate pulse rifles would have 99 bullets in them. The 'horrible rule' is fine. Aliens have NO buisiness or otherwise any use for dead bodies, at all, other than to metagame and prevent cloning. Cite me anywhere in any bit of lore, comic, movie, or game where it says xenos eat people to survive. You can't.

First of all. They've been known to eat people, here is a quote from the AVP Wikipedia.Post by Mitchs98 » Today, 04:37

So what's Plan B for you? Anyway. How exactly will the server population "Take a nosedive", if they're just going to come back at the start of a new round? As far as I'm concerned, all I need to do is cut off every marine's head I see. And it's not against the rules, either. It is a stupid rule, because cloning shouldn't be in this game mode in the first place. Tell me, what part of bringing a marine player back to life (a SINGLE one), helps anyone? To help their boredom? First of all, there are plenty of other servers to play whilst waiting, and before you pull the "They may not like the other servers" card. Bullshit. There are also millions of other games people can play, free and paid. Honestly, if SS13 is the only game anyone plays, then that's stupid (To clarify, if you play SS13 a lot more than other games, that is fine, but If you are seriously going to close the game and sit there for another hour, that is stupid). If the people like the server so much, they won't leave. Nobody cares if they spend 1 round as a dead person, sure, salt, but it only lasts so long. (Personally, dead-chat is like a FFA OOC, nobody gives a shit about OOC in dead-chat, or IC in dead-chat ). As for your lore. The pulse rifle the server uses is most likely Mk II, which is the second version made, which is why someone requested for it's name to be changed.for one, the Dragon on Fiorina 161 was apparently seen to eat at least some of the humans that it killed.[9] The inmate Walter Golic, who witnessed an attack by the Xenomorph and escaped, also subsequently claimed that the creature "feeds on minds"[9] (although owing to his delusional state, it is unclear how accurate this statement may be; he could simply have misinterpreted a Headbite as a form of feeding). In Gunnison, Colorado, Warriors were seen to feed on their victims.[26] On New Galveston, hosts were known to be used as a source of food for the Hive once the embryos inside them had been born,[27] and Xenomorphs on BG-386 were also occasionally seen to feed on humans they had attacked, sometimes while they were still alive.[23]

Re: Better cloning through tumors
Let me just..yea. Listen. Punching their inner mouth into their brains to kill them? That's not feeding. That's killing interpreted as thus. And I know SEVERAL marines that are easily worth 2+ marines by themselves by sheer skill alone. So yes, cloning one marine does actually help if they're competent players.SPACEpotato1 wrote: First of all. They've been known to eat people, here is a quote from the AVP Wikipedia.

And you know the human attention span? That's a thing. You're not guaranteed to have players come back after the new round. The entire point was it will do jack of shit for xeno spawn count.

If they were worth it, they wouldn't die, would they? Also. Other examples were provided other than the head-biting one. You seem almost "scared" to admit you're wrong.Let me just..yea. Listen. If cloning does anything to the xeno-spawn count, it fucks it up. No. You're not guaranteed to have players come back after a new round. That doesn't matter if you die or not, I always see at least 1 or 2 people hop off the server after a round is over.

Not interrupting your arguement, but what kind of logic is that?If they were worth it, they wouldn't die, would they?
Most robust players often dies to stupidity of other players or lags. No, really.

Re: Better cloning through tumors
Lets be real here. There is even a pop up for aliens that says 'It's dead why would you touch that' so just eating a dead body is silly. On the subject of cloning I see MAYBE 5 people cloned a round. And that's a very high number. And IN only see someone get cloned on a failed alien assault . Very very rarely does a body come back from the hive or the jungle, it's mainly a fob thing, or a pulling out from the planet thing. It isn't like you're seeing 25+ people get cloned a round. I like the idea though, it gives Docs something to do.

-1 This is terribly unneeded. It's just going to tie up doctors even more than they are already from dealing with broken bones, larva, organ failures, etc.
