Re: People Can Still Walk With Just One Leg
Well, they're hobbling?
Their speed is severely reduced.
Same if you cut BOTH their legs, they will be stuck with crawling at a SAD pace.

When the voice from the shadows calls you
When the wind whips past your ears
Will you stand when the weight is upon you
Or will you go to your knees in fear?

not a bug, a normal person can move with one leg, especially a trained marine.

... Not really. Okay, so you can HOP on one leg. But you wouldn't realistically be able to actually go anywhere unless you had a walker or a cane. You wouldn't really be able to balance well enough to stand, let alone actually move without toppling to the ground every step. I'm sure if I went up to a marine and lopped their leg off, they might CRAWL, but they're probably not getting to their feet, especially if they have all their gear on.

This is actually true. But since we have no crawling mechanics, I'm okay with one legged hopping.Wickedtemp wrote:... Not really. Okay, so you can HOP on one leg. I haven't actually noticed a legless marine running around, and when it happens to me I'm normally in crit and can't move anyways. What speed do they move at?\N wrote: This is actually true. But since we have no crawling mechanics, I'm okay with one legged hopping.

they don't, you cannot crawl afaik, and even if you could taking both legs puts a marine into crit he'll never come out of unless he's very lucky.

I saw this as a feature to counteract the lack of crawling with one leg, really. You move slower than walk speed, so, it's not really all that bad. I've done it multiple times myself..

Yea, and after a while you do fall down from the pain of you missing your leg so it isn't too bad for marines since they are basically on a time limit to go get treated or die there.

Even if you are missing one leg, you can be stabilized, you can walk ve-e-ery slowly for some time.

I hopped one leg for around 0.6 km in military training. Not pleasant, but possible. Want to talk about it?Wickedtemp wrote:... Not really. Okay, so you can HOP on one leg. Re: People Can Still Walk With Just One Leg
Hopping on one leg, and hopping on your ONLY leg cause your other one got torn off are two different things. If you ask me to draw a circle and a triangle with my dominant hand, not a problem.Dyne wrote: I hopped one leg for around 0.6 km in military training. Not pleasant, but possible. But if you cut my other arm off and then tell me to draw again, it's not getting done. Because pain is sort of a thing that exists, and having a LOT of it tends to make things difficult. Wanna know why you don't normally see people on fire calmly doing the whole "stop, drop, roll" thing?
Because it fucking hurts, it's hard to focus when you're in severe pain.
So, congrats on hopping a lot. But for an accurate test, you'll need to actually lose your other leg. This isn't even just about the pain either, it's also about maintaining your balance while you're in crippling pain, bleeding to death.
If I cut your leg off and told you to hop away from me, I'd bet money that you'd likely fall over after the first couple hops, then you'd frantically start to crawl.

Re: People Can Still Walk With Just One Leg
Actually if you want to talk accurate, don't mention pain. Pain has a lot of variables. Everyone has a different threshold to such a degree that no single standard measurement is accepted and all that were proposed got shot down. This is for many reasons including ;
Different sizes of natural chemical producing glands like adrenaline
Different neural pathways, not everyone has the same nervous system pattern and veins.
It's actually only possible to pass out from pain *theoretically*. All attempts ended with either the body simply cutting off the ability to process pain because your nerves were overloaded and couldn't process any more stimulus, or because you would seize up so much in an untrained reaction to pain that you would stop breathing and black out from suffocation.

My tendon on the other legs foot was torn, does it count?Wickedtemp wrote:

You're asking if this: http://imgur.com/fXe4vhmDyne wrote: My tendon on the other legs foot was torn, does it count?
Is as bad as this? http://imgur.com/B6V0lOt ... Quick warning, this one's a severed leg. So if you can't stand gore, don't click it. It might be fake, iunno, looks real to me.

Re: People Can Still Walk With Just One Leg
Not to mention balance. People have trouble standing up on one leg with their eyes closed. I don't expect anyone to suddenly start hopping around when their entire internal gyroscope is thrown out of loop.Wickedtemp wrote: If I cut your leg off and told you to hop away from me, I'd bet money that you'd likely fall over after the first couple hops, then you'd frantically start to crawl.

yeah yeah, how many times have people brought up RL v ss13 thing? this is not real life, so it's best you start thinking of it from a gameplay perspective. and the perspective is the biggest kinda shite, because if you pull it through we'll have a player taken outta the round with 3 ravager slashes. forever.
now how do you like it, m?
