Research's new use for dead xeno's?

Post by Gentlemanly_headcrab » 18 Apr 2016, 07:58

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): The idea came up once during a round where I was playing research and generally milling about through the lab, people bringing dead xenomorphs in every so often for me to cut apart and stack these little useless bits around the room in neat piles. So my idea was, there's all sorts of things you get from dissecting a xeno you get hide plates, aliens blood, biomass, and the sort. Now the ideal I had was a couple small changes. If you've played mining on a regular ss13 server Goliath plates can be put onto hardsuits for added damage reduction from brute damage applying these alien hide plates to marine armor would bring a small damage reduction to brute damage and maybe a small sprite change? Biomass would be used for cloning, being able to actually find new biomass and have a use for it in situations. The blood could be used as a type of Thermite for marine use, apply it to wall and let it sizzle through. The summery of this massive paragraph is basically. I want research to have a use for these xeno bodies except for wall decorations.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Biomass for cloning can be easier brought in, especially on rounds where the aliens seem to be killing rapidly. Hide plates would be just a small upgrade and actually give research a new use for these wall decorations. The acid blood is just something I thought would be neat. It'd give these bodies a use beyond "Hey look a lizard, not like it's useful or anything, just throw it in the corner."

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Cutting apart a xenomorph gives you the assorted little treats (hide, blood, biomass) You'd use the blood on a wall to pour the beaker onto it and the wall would start to sizzle like a weak acid. Hide, apply to armor, of course it'd take a bit of time to install it and the researcher would most likely have to do it to prevent random marines just finding plates and going (woop more armor). Biomass goes in cloner, a sort of reward that marines that died in the field killing this thing and going through the trouble to bring it back now have more cloning power.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Generally coding, spriting, and making sure nothing breaks while doing this.

It's just an idea I had so don't take it too seriously.

There is already a plan for the xeno addition that was made. It's on pause right now due to more pressing updates needed. Apop was a tease when he added what he did. He gave you the teaser of the upcoming research update.

When the voice from the shadows calls you
When the wind whips past your ears
Will you stand when the weight is upon you
Or will you go to your knees in fear?
