I agree that it shouldn't be able to be electrified; that would basically make it buffed egrilles. I'd also like to suggest that instead of outright stunning chargers, they should take small amounts of damage for each one they pass through. Less of a direct fuck you to the xenos, but still an effective counter to crushers if you layer enough.

Alternatively maybe they get destroyed but stop a charging crusher without a stun (as if the alien got tangled). Stops them from plowing straight through as easily, but is still counterable without dieing

Bump for Apop review, final version would likely NOT be electrified.

+1. Want this badly as an Engineer main.

And yes it should be electrifyable.

Might not be able to shoot through a grille vis a vis razorwire, but it _will_ prevent anything moving past it unlike razorwire, and it would be slightly more durable, which can be very important, especially when establishing a perimeter. For that reason, even if electrifyable it's not a straight up buffed grille; they both have a niche.

I can see razorwire deploying like emergency/engineering tape.

Here is what I see on the addition of razor wire,

=Creation and Availability=
·Should be easily created or easily available for engineers.
·Can deployed anywhere and un-deployable in Sulaco (in my opinion)

=Functionality=
·When an a player walls into the razor it slows the player down to walking space
·Shouldn't be electrified as razor wire is easily available and can be easily abused
·Once in a while, razor wire should crit a player to a point where the player will get stuck and have to put effort to get unstuck
·Can be shoot over...I mean c'mon is fucking wire located around your lower torso

=Destruction and Removal=
·Wirecutters
·Any kind of acid from the aliens
·Heavy explosives...(Not including nades)

Razor wire like in real life is just a area of denial tool, to discourage the enemy from attacking. To simplify, it's a glorified sentry that can't shoot and slows you down.

Bumperino. This isn't a half bad suggestion. Sprites and coding will be needed, though.

I like the V.2 version of razor wire.

It kinda forced the aliens to get a crusher early game to defeat the razor wire and not go full on aggressive and get carriers and ravagers.

On the other hand, it will make support aliens feel valuable and needed and not just a waste of time and glorious jelly.

It also seems to serve a great purpose of a channeling tool and funnels the aliens on just a chokepoint where marines can take the advantage. This forced the aliens to spend valuable time to remove the darn wire and under heavy fire. Just like in real life.

+1 i like it. What about instead of building a single tile you build a roll of say 6 tiles length that you deploy in a similar way to emergency tape?

-1 if it replaces electrified grilles.

+1 otherwise. Total FF hazard but I can see it being situationaly useful. Also should prevent dragging/pushing into the razor wire (i.e. the target gets caught or some other such rationalization). Could use the table code where you consciously choose to enter the wire via right click/verb command (otherwise we're at -1 again).

Look, son! Somebody didn't fully read the OP!

It was stated in the OP, in the V2 section, that they wouldn't be electrifiable.

I assume you mean yourself, because he clearly states that grilles would be removed as part of his suggestion, and does not amend this with his V2 update.

Electric grilles were already removed, and grilles are still needed for windows, so I expect that part won't be fufilled.

Egrilles haven't been removed, they've been nerfed so they can't be fired over. Bit of a moot point now, but i'll scratch out that part anyways.

Ah. Sorry, I thought otherwise since marines don't use them anymore.

I use them situationally. Useful on the Sulaco or planetside when there's 600k+ volts going through the system as it deals serious damage to most aliens and stuns long enough to finish em off.

With a phoron reactor set up producing millions of volts, it is likely to instantly kill most (if not all; I believe the damage gets up to 200-300 at 5 mil volts which is achievable) aliens.

I think 6 is too many, since this will probably be used in nexus and around chokepoints. Rolls 3 tiles long would be cool, however.

+1

Not like it would help either much in my perspective. Since aliens can destroy it very easily and it's only those that run face-first into it that'll take damage. This owuld be more for the scenery.

+1 as a xeno player I love seeing new complex constructions, and I think these would be quite fair. However I'd see this as very low priority.

Implemented.

You can now put wire on barricades.
