Diggable walls and hibernating eggs.

Post by Derpislav » 23 Apr 2016, 16:58

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): "Weak stone" walls that can be destroyed by acid-capable castes. Facehugger eggs scattered randomly around these walls. The ability to chip these walls away with massed gunfire and explosives to slightly widen some chokepoints in caves.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Aliens have a source (randomized and totally not dependable, but it's something) of facehuggers in an emergency. They can modify the cavern layout slightly, too. Marines can widen chokepoints, but at the cost of large amounts of ammo.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Differently textured rocks scattered around the map. Sentinel and Drone evolutions can mine them like a human with a pick would. These walls randomly spawn facehugger eggs when mined away.
A sort of a "Xeno ERT" could also be worked into this, by making a bunch of xenomorphs awaken in one of these rock pockets.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Described above.
Lockie 'Furry' Hughes, your local source of annoyance, medicine and Will. E. Coyote engineering. Mostly medicine. Maybe annoyance.

Only if the aliens have a chance of digging up hybernated Marines.

That said, sure, why not?

I understand where you're coming from in a balancing perspective, but I don't think both sides should have the same mechanics with different wording.

Also, +1.

+1 gives some extra depth and more things to do for the acid caste, I'm down for it.

If they are laid out in a balanced way I like it.

I'm not sure what your asking for. do you want Xeno mining? Cause, I'm not sure we'd add a big xeno feature like this that would be applicable to a single map (we are bringing more maps in soonish).

+1. I think walls being acidable is balanced by the immense amount of time it would take to cut through the rock ( maybe 3+ minutes of strong acid?). Having gun fire destroy rock over time is a nice feature as well.

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!
