the salty topic: remove resin handcuffs
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):oh do you smell that fresh salty in the air? taking that off, FUCK resin handcuffs, spawn camping isn't fair, no one will be able to get out of the nest if a fucking drone is watching you until you burst, maybe just buff the legcuffs and make you very slow or something like that, but please, remove this salt machine that is resin handcuffs, i know its just 20 seconds to take the handcuffs but its impossible if a drone is watching, and don't even say that it isn't that bad, because the only way to get out of it is if an alien isn't watching (nearly goddamn impossible), what we gonna add now, blinding resin?
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):we'll remove some salty'ness in the game
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):just remove the damn handcuffs, but don't get me wrong, i know some aliens don't spawn camp, but majority of them does, but aliens already have a LOT of OP things, queen screech, the crusher, facehuggers and of course, carriers
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):N/A

Well here we go again . . . .
When the voice from the shadows calls you
When the wind whips past your ears
Will you stand when the weight is upon you
Or will you go to your knees in fear?

I literally escaped a hive with handcuffs on, and 6 xenos chasing me yesterday. It's fine to have the handcuffs, it's game over if you're nested anyways.

I don't know if that picture would help but I'll put it here anyway.
Sure, they get cuffs and what you say they have is "OP" but so do the marines.
I'll list them if you want me to.

i'm fine with the handcuff itself, but i'm pissed off with the camping that the aliens do to keep you in the hive, sure they are aliens they need to keep the hosts in the nests, people already did that, but its now buffed, if you are in a closed area, you're done, just if someone save you or the aliens look away for i dunno, 3 minutes?, taking off that, sure handcuffs can stay, but it will never end, aliens will always camp

So what I'm getting from this is that you're a bit too pissed off from the camping.lucashunter608 wrote: oh yeah man i love when the aliens do this too

Re: the salty topic: remove resin handcuffs
if you are in a closed area, there's no escape, these aliens needs to be dumb enough to let you leave the hive without any complications, there's no trouble leaving from a nest when its a closed area, but you'll need to run, take off the cuffs, wait 20 seconds, until that, they already got you, you're defenseless, just if you run a marraton into the nexus, but until you reach it, they already got you, last round a drone was staring at me until i bursted, this is why the handcuffs needs to be taken, the goddamn camping that fucks with everythingTeknoKot wrote:I literally escaped a hive with handcuffs on, and 6 xenos chasing me yesterday. It took ten seconds for me to remove the handcuffs.lucashunter608 wrote: if you are in a closed area, there's no escape, these aliens needs to be dumb enough to let you leave the hive without any complications, there's no trouble leaving from a nest when its a closed area, but you'll need to run, take off the cuffs, wait 20 seconds, until that, they already got you, you're defenseless, just if you run a marraton into the nexus, but until you reach it, they already got you, last round a drone was staring at me until i bursted, this is why the handcuffs needs to be taken, the goddamn camping that fucks with everything

Re: the salty topic: remove resin handcuffs
don't get me wrong, there was already camping before, it was anoying but you could get out of the nest if you where lucky enough, but a goddamn drone watching you EVERY time until you burst is a joke, there is literally no escape, you can try to bypass him, but you'll hit the resins with what? you're handcuffed, can't do anything, if you try to remove it, you'll only be taken away, and not to mention that aliens can grab you and you can't walk anymore, until you get out of the nest again you'll burst, i know marines got a shitton of OP things, but the alien advantages and the marines advantages aren't the case here, maybe you got the wrong idea of it, i'm realy pissed about the camping itself, the cuffs are fine by me, if you had actual time to take off the cuffs and take off your knife, but there is always an alien stalking you, waiting for you to get out of the nest, making a rule about not camping would be a joke too, so, only option is take off the cuffsSargeantmuffinman wrote: So what I'm getting from this is that you're a bit too pissed off from the camping.

Re: the salty topic: remove resin handcuffs
Previously lucky marine could escape nest then knife walls and free other kidnapped thus increasing chances to survive. Now game become much more easier for salty aluems who cant 1vs1 infected nested and barely armed marine (at least on old map it was common both for sentinels and runners) so now being captured = being killed meaning resin cuffs is either dumb game feature or good but very unbalanced one.
Also I think post about 10sec timer is pure lie (ofc if its not a random parameter) because I was cuffed two times on Sulaco and on planet (separate games) last week and both times it took around 15-18 seconds and its w\o counting multiple pushes from escaping marines which reset timer few times.

Re: the salty topic: remove resin handcuffs
This has been terribly managed.
Port/add pinning from basically every other codebase. Let xenos pin.
Make the cuffs become part of the nest (IE disappear) upon buckling.
Boom. Balanced, fair, reasonable and not comically limited.

Cuffs can only be applied to nested people. What you just said makes it literally impossible to make cuffs.Gandalf wrote:This has been terribly managed.

Re: the salty topic: remove resin handcuffs
Truth said? Yes, this is "overpower". But actually NOTHING compared to 100% lore based nests.
The main idea behind the cuffs is really making the nested humans hopeless. And it comes with a lot of merits.
I can even picture the poor human struggling to leave the nest, falling of it, but still having a lot of resin on his arms and legs. - It doesn't harm the lore that much, and actually is still a nerf when compared to it.
The other interesting thing? Take a look at this...
If you are a marine who got nested, you can:
- Talk to the other humans throught the radio, offering valuable intel that may get you rescued or at least help them fight more effectively.
- Resist the best you can, and - if you are lucky - try to run away, kill some xenomorphs or even kill yourself (that is actually a chance for killing a single xenomorph).
- Pull some roleplay as the alien's victim. From crying to insulting the creature.
- Ghost and leave. (Instant Game Over for your character. Unless someone find your body and get you cloned. But other than that, you can only rejoin the round as an ERT member, as a predator or as a Xenomorph.)
But if you are a xenomorph, you aren't captured.
- You are killed on the spot! (It's an instant Game over, like the third option above listed.)
Unless you are a player too attached to your character, who isn't willing to be anything else than a human and/or who hates to watch the round for a while and then restart from zero...
...it's easy to perceive the game as giving you an interesting advantage when you play as a marine, where at least you aren't "instantly removed from the round" if you got caught earlier.
Cuffs made getting out of the nest harder? Yes!
But it was already hard before.
And?
Actually it's always a dull portion of gameplay to both parties involved.
It's annoying to stay there watching the nests as a xenomorph.
It's desperating to be nested as a marine (specially if you fall into what I stated above).
- And it boils down to a boring dramatic staring context where luck and fast clicking is much more important than actual strategy or skill.
So I am much more for a major rework of mechanics related to hugging-nesting-bursting, for a more fast-paced game, instead of simply tweaking the existing mechanics.
But if it isn't possible? Keep the cuffs... They aren't that bad.

If facehuggers are going to be an instant KO death sentence, then you can't have handcuffs in the hive as well. Poorly designed gameplay from top to bottom.

Cuffs in of themselves aren't a bad idea.
What cuffs SHOULD do is solve the problem of transporting marines who aren't facehugged being basically impossible.
What cuffs SHOULDN'T do is make babysitting nested marines any simpler.
The former of these is something that's always been unfairly stilted in favour of marines. The latter was basically fine in its balance.

Re: the salty topic: remove resin handcuffs
I agree, these cuffs are pretty fucking stupid. The only way you can get out now is if the aliens are stupid (which majority aren't, in this case) and don't decide to watch over you, or your marines buddies come and save you. I think there should be some alternative, however to this, that is fair to both marines and the over-grown geckos. Perhaps the aliens can't open a door by you for say..30 seconds after you break out? Not sure how entirely that would work, but eh, it's a start.

Well, since you can now break free when you choose to you can easily time your escape, so you can break free from the nest and get rid of the resin cuffs anytime you want. It only takes planning and good timing. Nest camping is something always existed, even before the cuffs.

-1 no. you have explosives, 5 different ranged weapons put in your bag and an entire squad to work with what are you doing getting tackled down and picked off alone
Part of the game. Aliens always win 1v1 if the marine gets caught off guard. Likewise for the other side.
