Attachment's manufacturing

Post by Sarah_U. » 23 May 2016, 12:33

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Grant a department (Most likely requisition) the ability or machinery to manufacture attachments. (Possibly make the machine the autholathe?)

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
It will grant the ability to requisition or any other department to manufacture the extra attachments required for the SULACO to keep operating rapidly over ordering more of those.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
The RO or CT would use metal and glass to manufacture items like stocks and RDS while taking orders in the office. Which would greatly lower the wait for the supplies and possibly grant emergency situations more attachments-- Marines still can't put two or three attachments on the same attachment slot.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Add the items in the proper machine and adjust their costs so that they're not excessively costly either. You can surely copy-paste the codes from other items.
Otherwise if you only wish to give the ability to people to make more attachments, make more item crafting like the bayonette and flashlight.

PS: If denied, please look at the upcoming suggestion about implementing stocks in supply orders.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Going to say -1 on this. Attachments are mostly designed for people who start off the round, they are a small buff for those who came in first and survived. Since marines are pretty much a static force, they are designed to stay at around the same power level throughout the match while the xenos are an evolving force who just grows stronger as time passes (in theory). Of course this meta is probably going to change with the planned research and xeno updates in the near future but at the current time, attachments are a luxury, they aren't necessary.

With that said, I have agree there should be a stock crate or something so I would give that a +1 easily (if that suggestion comes)

+1. Sorely needed. Hell, I would go further and have the machine produce munitions as well, connected to a disposals tube via conveyor that when active, moves the products to the supply drop area.

I just thought about it, but what about making a supply manufacture inside the SULACO in the next re-haul? We could implement this idea somewhere in there, but link it with the research console to actually unlock the equipment rather than straight out hand them? Just an improvement to my idea.

Eh...

I like it because when I play RO it pisses me off, working with limited points while ordering crate loads of attachments, and only getting like one or two of each every crate load, but at the same time it may be a tiny bit OP...

Neutral, interesting idea though.

+1 Because not only would it give the RO and CT(s) something to do. Though, I guess you would be ordering a lot of metal and glass....

+1 it gives the RO and CS something to do in between the game after the marines have deployed and before they need so much metal so this gives RO and CS time to do something when they are waiting.

-1
RO is not a machine shop and you can specifically order supplies to distribute to marines. The whole supply mechanic is there in order for you to get attachments or other things. But I think apop wanted to change up RO at some point, so who knows.

Doesn't have to be RO.

COuld be research making better attachments.

+1 for when the research update hits for better attachments and attachment manufacturing, considering aliens like to eat humans whole for some reason which destroys all of those beginning attachments.
