Ancient writtings on walls (LV-624)

Post by Sarah_U. » 25 May 2016, 19:53

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Add draws of aliens and whatnot on the walls of the temple and other areas in the caves to add some atmosphere and insight, maybe even lore to the game.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Overall this would greatly benefit the atmosphere and roleplay of the server. A group of marines or a few individuals could pass by a few writtings and see the depictings of aliens, predators, fights, queen, etc. and interact / make their own mind on the imagery.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): A group of marines passing by a picture of the queen surrounded with eggs would sometimes possibly ignore it, but maybe one or two on recon duty would take the time to explore it and put 1 and 1 togheter to link the wildlife with the great creature they're watching there. Later-on they could even link-up that image to the queen when they first encounter her.

Generally speaking, this would add a lot of possibility to reinforce roleplay and scenarios where the aliens are seen as ancient creatures, promote some talks between the non-combattant being informed of the discovery, etc.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Simply add sprites to the server and add them to the maps as per your own discretion. This idea is simple, though it requires some artworking.

Thank you for your time, and as always I wish you for a nice day.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Considering the crashed shuttle, I don't think it would necessarily fit since the start of the round results in a new hive being made from the result of that shuttle. But hey beggars cant be choosers

Where did you hear that? I've always assumed the archaeological team dug up the Xenos and have never heard anything to the contrary.

I was lead to understand the colony was testing on the Xenos or WeYu released the xenos on the planet themselves.

Evidence in the science dome points to that direction, yes.
The exact origin may differ.

From what I can gather, I'll give you what I can get as a spin from this.

A. The shuttle is an iron bears merc vessel, possibly one that answered the distress signal before the sulaco, or a team attempting to flee, which was sabotaged by an onboard xeno issue.
B. From the pred temple, we can gather xeno's where here first, cause they tend to not just go "YEP! I LIKE THIS PLANET! SUMMER HOME IT SHALL BE!"
C. Any weyland incorporation we see, is AFTER they fucked up and found xenos, they did not release them. That's just my spin here.

Anyways, I like it, I'd love to see this implemented, just so as a pred I'd be able to admire the historical work. Bonus points if it's all in predator language or hieroglyphs.

Generally I go with the idea that W-Y ordered colonists to dig an area much like the frozen temple in one of the movie. Stuck beneath the surface, xenos were hibernating or already mostly dead and see'ing as they've been awakened, started to pick people off.

In distress, the colony sent the beacon and PMCs / Iron Bears / Anyone came and tried to fight, but died in a crash while being boarded by the remaining xenos. Though as we see often in boarding situations, a few larvas are left behind ;)

Well from what I've gather.

1.WY colony set to dig xenoarcheological goodies
2.WY find test xenos
3.Xenos escapes after infecting someone in science
4.The crashed shuttle is actually from a group of well-armed colonists that tried to escape but a xenomorph killed everyone in flight (like that scene from the movie)

As for the suggestion, I aprove it, make ancient writing on:

1.Sand temple
2. On those small rooms with cult walls and whatnot
3.The eastern sand building, forgotten by almost everyone

On the topic of the eastern sand building, we could expand a little bit, maybe add some xenoarch equipment outside of it and maybe some goodies that there's on the sand temple?

Bumping this to improve immersion and the good ol'rp so that there is more to the map then a few notes which are in engineering and a tomb with some ceremonial weapons.

LV is no longer in rotation for the moment, so this is no longer relevant. You may see something like this in the future, but resolved for now.
