We have mitiny to keep Command in check and fun for marines, except for Xenos planetside. That idea is bad though, excuse to shoot people. Its not like we do not have enough trigger happy marines.

Yeah, it's funny in warhammer 40k, but other than being a meme here, it shouldn't be much more.

(unless we're talking about that event commissar with instant-kill whip and admin reviving himself)

For an actual post, 9/10 your squad will consist of all rambos. People will go rambo if they have a grudge on a certain SL, or go to another one if they like them. SLs cannot rule-wize punish their marines for not following their orders. IN real life people would follow their superiors because they know they are more tactically and combat able then they are, that is why if you kill a SL the marines under his command go into chaos. But in CM if you kill the marine under his command the SL goes into chaos. What im trying to say is make it a rule to follow orders unless udderly ridiculous, or not fitting in a certain RP-event.

We know how this will go based on how players treat other high responsibility positions. That is to say, they suck

Yes, it was Skymarshal or something like that. I remember he came in one time due to something about a whole squad of marines (Alpha, I think), and I mean like packed to the brim with players, was just sitting around on the Sulaco. One of the admins spawned a player in as him or something like that, or maybe it was one of the admins, but he spawned in cargo while I was the RO. Me and my CT were smuggling in large amounts of black market weapons and he spawned from somewhere in the back of cargo. He turned the corner from disposals and scared the crap out of me and my CT because he also had that "chain of punishment" or whatever it is called. Long story short, the Skymarshal killed somebody and some threw him down the disposals, so I went to check on him, as I was trying to pull him out the admins killed him by making him explode like he had swallowed a grenade. Covered me in blood and I walked out of the disposals soaked in it and I think everyone thought I finished him off. High Command received notice of his death and cut off funding for the rest of the mission (round).

Either way,we don't need them.

As per-usual it doesn't fit the lore.

But how would it even work without causing hatred towards the commisar?

I don't think a Commisar would work even on a Wh40k SS13 server.

It does work quite well, actually.

No, I'm not talking about CM. I'm talking about a Warhammer40k SS13 server, the one lower down on the hub, Absolution.

As for the suggestion? Let's be honest, if we had a Commisar, sure, he might be able to deal with a few rambos and otherwise, but he would be killed by the marines, or "Accidentally" pushed into a bunch of huggers.

I have to respectfully -1 this. If we get commissars we have to go full imperial guard, warhammer 40k conversion. While I'd love that forever and ever, it doesn't fit in the aliens universe as others have said. We're trying to be lore-friendly here.

If we want to be realistic, the soviets decide that comissars were a bad idea and decided to remove them when they reorganized the Red Army into the Soviet Armed Forces in 1946, not to mention that the Iron Bears are more like a spetsnaz and you would not have a over-the-top comissar with a infiltration spec ops group.

But if we had rule of cool I'd have no problem.

I recall hearing quite a few stories of "Commisars" arriving on deck, it wasn't just the one time if I recall. So the server certainly has field tested them.

Thing is, it just causes more salt than anything, with players accusing the commisar for being a power-hungry asshole for simply doing his job and punishing marines refusing to obey their orders with death. That, and an instakill pistol is worrying.. What if someone uses it to kill xenos? They could RAMBO a whole swarm by themselves.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.
