M402 Multiple-Launch Mortar: Hellfire from above

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Adds in the M402 Multiple-Launch Mortar, the mortar has 2 pieces to it, the main mortar, and the 10 round clip of 80mm mortar rounds.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): The marines can use something other than OB's to attack fortified Xeno postions.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): alike a sentry gun, it needs to be properly set up to work, and only comes with 2 clips of 80mm rounds (there can be differing ammo types: Cluster, High Explosive, Smoke, Gas, etc). Marines can rain down hell on a fortified position very quickly and easily.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): I really dont know how it could be put in game, I thought at first you could have one for each coolmar engineer vendor, but i think it could also be spec token weapon.

Even if this doesn't get auto denied, which it will, mortars aren't an effective weapon in ColMar anyways. We don't see it, but the hab domes are in fact domes, with roofs. Most defensive positions get set up indoors, which is super weird to fire a mortar out of. Alien hives are likewise deep underground in the caves, and can't be hit by mortars just like they can't be hit by OBs. You would also need to be able to see the target at long distance, requiring them to be near a light source. Combine these and the times when a mortar would be appropriate are slim to none.

alright so I was thinking about this the other day and it's a good idea , it means marines can attack the aliens when they are on the sandy area outside the caves , when they are storming the north side of the nexus or when they are attacking tcomms. Basic ideas are that it has a limited range of say 30 tiles with a time delay , it cannot be fired indoors (otherwise explosion) cannot be fired in the caves (explosion) and cannot hit targets in the caves or hit targets indoors. Other than this it has a relatively slow fire rate and it has to be manually reloaded each time. The explosions would be enough to kill an alien on a direct hit and do reciprocal damage at further difference (as per explosion code) , different types might do different damage EG incendiary types could do a 4 by 4 tile of fire along with some moderate impact damage or a HE shell could cause a larger explosion with slightly less damage. It's a good concept and it could be given to engineers or even standards as something to do. Think back to when each squad got it's own sentry gun well maybe each squad could get it's own mortar turret.

Other points would be that it is very weak during direct melee attacks and it cannot hit targets withing 8 tiles of itself (so it doesn't suddenly become a CQB monster) and that the ammo should be more expensive than the current specialist ammo and come in smaller amounts.

Janitor job (Nope never, be a maintenance technician)
Borgs
Androids (we are working on it)
Predator changes (we are working on it)
Game Modes (we are working on it, and there is a discussion sticky)
Working APC (won't happen)
Clowns/Morale Officers or anything "entertainment" related that illudes to a clown. (You WILL get a week-long forum ban, clowns are never going to be in CM)
Additional ERTs - You have the ones you have and they furfill specific purposes, no reason for "Yakuza ERT" or silliness like that.
IDs for survivors
Cloners - When we DO remove them, we'll make sure we a fair and good method of reviving or treating injuries better. But this is MONTHS AWAY, so STOP.
