Delay on firing orbital.

Post by Jaketeaking » 08 Jun 2016, 22:46

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
I think about a 3 second delay should be added from when command hits fire, to when it actually fires. it should broadcast a warning, in this 3 second gap, so that surgeons or anybody else doesn't get knocked about by the recoil when operating inside a person.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
benefits are mainly from an RP perspective.
The man known as James 'patch' Alfonse. also gets called hotdog and "lemon.

WO first ever round -- only doctor.
WOv2 - First ever CO to survive more than 30 minutes, thanks to the help of bravo, charlie, delta, and flex the madman who killed at least 30 using an MG turret and an epic bombardment

Or I could make it realistic, and have it warn you after. I means, that's what it was like in Real Life.

Honestly I could see it going both ways for realism. CM is supposed to be a space aged type of future, they should have the technology to say when the strike is going to hit, on the other hand, the marines are probably using that money to make better cannon rounds rather than an announcement system. Plus a delay would give aliens a chance to vacate wherever they were on the planet. All in all, I feel like maybe we could compromise by making the medbay or even the operating rooms, shake proof.

while we're at it, can we remove the beeping sound and or remake the OB item though. make it function like a handheld radio instead of a throwing beacon. i'm too tired to go into detail but I might do it tomorrow if there's any need.

I don't think a delay is necessary. The marines on the ground wouldn't appreciate it, and no delay would give a nice scare to those on board.

Squad is informed an OB is being fired, other squads aren't.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

So marines running away from OB and screaming "Incoming!" and a loud beeping is not enough?

Possible move suggestion to LOCKED and RESOLVED?

seems that there is a text warning after the orbital bombardment has been fired that states that a character feels the rumble of the ships cannons, so that has changed i believe.
Gaze upon me,
for I have wandered deep into the ancient tombs of knowledge to which lie madness and sorrow, cleansing a path for all those who walk behind me...

...

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!
