Cable coil in sentry crates

Post by Sarah_U. » 12 Jun 2016, 10:42

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Add cable coils to the sentry crate.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
It will avoid situations where the need for cable coil is present but there's none left around the planet or there's CT, no MTs/Engi...
It'll also generally be more logical since having a full assembly for a turret but no cable sent is pretty dumb for a military crate.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Crate is received, cable coil is slot #12 or w/e. Anyone with knowledge of assembly can set it up with that basic if they have the tools so it reduce un-assembled sentries since engineers get picked off and targetted recently.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Simply put, add the cable to the crate item count etc.
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

This makes sense and probably should be added in as by the time you get to making a sentry you may have used all your cable coil fixing some marines robo limbs.

This is because, a standard engineer should have cable-coin with him already in his toolbelt. If we added the coils, there's nothign stopping everdayJoeTheMreen from throwing together turrets themself.

Marine would need to weld (eye damage) and wrench the turret. Yes indeed the marine will have a lower aim than the turret, but eye burn actually grows infections from what I know and having eye infection SERIOUSLY HINDER your vision and makes you an easy target + an hindrance.

Overall too, if a standard is deploying a turret he's powergaming/not doing his job as he's got a toolbelt and he's making stuff he don't quite know about...
Too, if the marine has a welder and wrench; He'll probably have cable coils inside the toolbelt he stole as well.

But I get your point and it's not as easy to assemble a sentry without the coil being shipped with it... Somewhat.

I died out from welding 3 objects as a survivor once. I don't exactly know how but I turned completly blind and died from pain and probably brain damage.
About a month ago maybe when I tried to setup power as a survivor without a welding mask.

Protip: Repair ONE generator, shoot the lockers open to get insulated gloves, hack the tool vendor in that same room aka cut ALL the wires, vend a welding mask or 4, then finish setting up power.

Was one month ago and I was getting rushed by xenos, I didn't quite think I could make it out but I actually managed to hide and die out of my injuries.
Goal was to get generators going before I'd die so that the beacon could come up for the two other survivors I saw if I recall.

Should have the cable coil; let's face it, Joe Marine probably isn't going to have all the tools he needs to assemble one anyways (welder/welder goggles/wrench), even ignoring the fact that he's breaking the rules by making it.
