Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): The hunter's stealth ability is an extremely fun and interesting gameplay mechanic, but it makes no sense lore-wise. We have another mechanic already in use by xenomorph larva that makes much more sense. The "hide" mechanic makes a lot of sense and will benefit hunters that want to stealth in their own territory, but punish them for sneaking across open ground.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): More in line with xenomorph lore, will let hunters sneak and move more easily but punish them for messing around in enemy territory.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Give the hunter the ability to blend into their own resin as in the lore by giving them the hide mechanic and letting them go underneath the weeds. With the new weed sprites, this will work especially well.
If you want to go down the hardcore lore route, you can extend the hide mechanic to the drone as well. Given that you can now upgrade to an ancient drone rather than a hivelord, it would make more sense for them, as the faster moving caste, to set up forward nests and let the hivelords stay back and protect the Queen.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Just use the existing code for hiding and give it to some other castes.

Change up the hunter's "stealth"
I play as this guy, proudly being dismembered by extraterrestrials since 2015.
Sometimes I might play other guys, you never know.

I thought that drones were a class that couldn't upgrade?

You're probably right. I didn't really investigate that before giving my thoughts. Even if they can't upgrade, though, it stands that they would do better at making forward hives if they were given stealth.InterroLouis wrote:I thought that drones were a class that couldn't upgrade?

Hiding is already problematic for a number of reasons. It's one of the things I'd likely try and remove completely in the coming future. Denied for now.
