Wildlife interaction

Post by Sarah_U. » 20 Jun 2016, 17:20

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Make the wildlife emit sound or text when a xeno get close and even perhaps make them move away and face the threat while doing so.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
It'll increase the realism and also give some personality to the wildlives. Rather than being a bunch of lost dummies they'll actual react to xenos and potentially be used by survivors to know if something's nearby in the dark...
It'll also be really scary if a xeno is creeping up on you and all you hear is Lisa's growls as she tries to warn you something's right there, preparing to leap at you and rip you away from your life.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Example:
A xeno roams around a dog, the dog starts barking and growling, possibly moving back while trying to face the threat.
A monkey sees a xenomorph and becomes agitated, trying to wander away a bit or to confront it.
Etc.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Maybe make it a proximity sensor with a check for if it's a xeno and put it to three-four tiles to make it fair?

Sidenote: There's a lot more possibilities that can be done, but that's really just one I thought would be easy and nice for flavour in regard to wildlife.

If this is at all possible, I'd love it.

Agreed with Lep. This is something I'd very much like to see in-game if it is possible to do so.

I suppose you could surgically implant some voice recordings with proximity sensors...

It would be a nice little change and it would give a bit of authenticity to hunting wild life. Even if the change is as simple as if anything gets within three tiles, Marine or Alien, then the creature will emit a scared text noise and it'll move away.

How about wildlife that fight back? Hell, monkeys in the real world can be plenty vicious. +1, anyhow, for a touch of realism.

I won't put anymore than this basic interaction because if the wildlife would begin to attack xenos it'd become horrible inside the hive...
Furthermore it helps the suggestion being accepted by making it simple and leave ample room for you guys to simply add other suggestions like wildlife being a whitelisted role (Just an example, don't let normal players ever have it plz).

So yea, hope you get my point and enjoy the idea.

non whitelisted wildlife, aliens 22: The wildlife fights back. An assault of monkies and naera with sharp, blunt, and otherwise dangerous implements, and fire arms.

I think if monkeys could fight back who would even need the marines.

+1 for fight or flight
