Summary:
Cargo should be equipped with two Marine Weapons vendors
WHAT IT WOULD LOOK LIKE:
Benefits:
Pretty simple, Cargo now has access to munitions and supplies to send to the marines. There should be no excuses why cargo doesn't have any munitions stored in there department when they are in charge of reloading and resupply to the ground.
Details:
If i had to locate the vendors, i would place them to the top left section of cargo since it allows the sprites to show normally without them needing to be rotated.( and look at that floor symmetry, lookin good!) It also fills up the space nicely on the side with the drop pad and gives clear indication that cargo techs should be loading weapons for those resupply drops.
If there are any other points to add on, maybe lower the supply of weapons in the vendors and increase the amount of ammo in them. You could also lower or remove the AP rounds in the marine prep area and have them be special clips that cargo doles out to troopers. This means cargo can now ration out the rare AP ammo to troopers instead of a few troopers grabbing extremes amount of AP ammunition. ( Lowers the salt ratio a tad bit as well as giving a little bonus to late game marines if the ammo is rationed correctly.)

Still a good suggestion, would make Cargo a easier task when it comes to stockpiling ammunition and weapons for supply drops.
I would say one or two vendors with a combined total of about 40 to 60 magazines of each main weapon type.

This would dramatically improve the QOL for those first few supply drops, and keep cargo from having to steal from marines.

Nothing sucks more then when an order for helmets takes way longer than expected. The way this is set up, it would speed up delivery times and ensure ammo and supplies gets down all the faster.

In your suggestion, would the Cargo Technicians also have access to firearms or only the munition?

cargo techs would have access to firearms. In character and out of character, cargo techs are already allowed to carry the rifles as they are enlisted troops with proper training. As it works today, they are still not allowed to brandish weapons and heavy armor around the ship without a decentish reason, but they can do so if needed.
