Add Progress Bars

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

Add progress bars so that you and your allies can see how close you are to completing a task, and thus make more informed, better decisions: (welding, devouring, dismantling, tearing down a resin door, etc).

This bar would not be visible to enemies.


Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

Per the summary. In general it's a big UI/quality of life improvement.


Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

Whenever completing a task that takes time, a progress meter appears over your head that's only visible to you and other friendlies (or only you if it's not possible to have allies see while excluding enemies from doing so), indicating how far along that task is.


Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

Coding. Several other servers have this so it might be worth looking to their codebase for inspiration (not saying we steal it so much as ask permission to utilize it, or create a better version).

+1 but I don't think they can use other server's code due to the closed nature of the code. Also I want to say I think this should only be visible to person preforming the action because I can see how this can get real meta heavy quickly, where you can have a xeno devouring another marine and the marines notice the progress bar and think he has to sit there for 2 seconds to eat our mate,so we can either kill him there or make him back off or on the flip side a xeno spitter notices you trying to remove a hugger from your pal, so xeno hits you with acid to reset your timer

Per the OP I stated this should only be implemented in the event that your progress bars are viewable by yourself and friendlies only.

Honestly I can see this also being an issue since again it can be really meta driven since how would they know you are doing something and how long it would take. Also it would also add alot clutter to the screen, I see limiting it to certain range would be a good idea (maybe adjacent tiles to 3)

As long as distance specific bar displays weren't too resource intensive.

I would be fine with progress bars being visible only to the person generating them; the key thing is that the enemy cannot see them.

Thin bar a top of player's health bar (that only visible with mediHUD). It won't be a clutter at all, I'm playing on a TG server, that has such awesome thing, it don't bother players at all.

+1 to this, would be very useful.

They have a bar like this in use on Yogstation. +1 would absolutely recommend.

+1 to this if it was only visable to your player and noone else. If you want people to know how close you are to finishing something, you have to yell at them.
This + the suggestion to have noises be generated when working on something will make understanding buillding so much easier.
