Larger Aliens take "Movement Priority"

Post by ThatCrazyBridgeOfficer » 23 Jun 2016, 01:28

Summery
There isn't one person who's played a Larger alien that hasn't complained about everyone getting in their way and getting them killed.
So i did some thinking, the smaller aliens make up (Around) 80% of the hive population so what if we allowed the Larger aliens to move through/swap places with smaller aliens as if they weren't there regardless of either or's intent setting while making it so the Larger aliens aren't pushed around/moved by the smaller aliens unless they have help intent?

TL;DR, Large aliens can move through Smaller aliens whenever they please, but not vise-versa: Only when the Larger aliens allow it via help intent

Benefits
No more stupid deaths due to over crowding/following which prevents larger aliens from escaping.
No more movement issues in the maint areas or in compact hives.
Smaller aliens cant bump nor get in the way of Larger aliens trying to pull others to safety.

Details
Large alien: Regardless of intent setting from either the Large or Small Alien the Larger alien may move through and swap places with a Smaller alien as if they both had help intent on.

Small alien: Regardless of intent setting a smaller alien cannot move through a Larger alien unless said Large alien has help intent on.

+1. Yes please. Getting bodyblocked into gunfire/grenades is essentially the Xeno equivalent of FF, except its predicated on shitty mechanics.

Tbh taking notice that your smaller sibblings WILL get in your way despite your need to escape is a good way to survive this issue. If anything it'll give a bit too much an advantage for larger lifeforms surviving 24/7 while other T1/T2 want to evolve.
... I'm neutral, and really unsure which possition to take on this. Most likely it's like marines FF, it's something players should try to arrenge between eachothers if possible (Even thou I got killed a lot by smaller lifeforms, one time intentionally due to this).
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Which is more valuable, a Crusher, or a Runner? The more valuable one needs to be able to survive more, for the sake of the hive.

As for the suggestion, you know the second one is already done, right? T3s can't be pushed around by any other Alien.
As for passing through, it's a much needed feature for T3s being able to retreat and attack properly, which they can't do if there's a wall of T1s and T2s blocking them. +1.

Oh I know, im just making sure that after this update we don't have to come back and be like "OMGERD SMALL FRY PUSHING MEEEE!!11!!" because having to rewrite movement code can be finicky.

-1 to the suggestion. Xenos need to learn not to block each other in, it doesn't need to be made easier for them.

That crusher you're describing was bad, but then again most crushers are.
"Crush your enemies. See them driven before you..."

+1

Should complement the tier principle. The lower ones should be submitting to the higher ones
