The Great Compromise of Marine and Xeno Bullshit! (Xeno restraints/Handchewing)

Post by Shyguychizzy » 01 Jul 2016, 01:45

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): As the name states, this is about a great compromise of some of the BS things in both xeno perspective, and marines.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Would benefit both parties, in which increasing less salt for both xenos and marines.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): As we know once a marine gets captured a xeno gets the marine secured and is the nest then secures the nest, which causes the marine not to be able to escape. But, there is a way to basically undo it by chewing off your hand, in which pisses off xenos, while xeno restraints pisses off marines due to the amount of time it takes. Marines now a days are unable to escape or do anything in the matter, they just chew off their hand, and end up dead, for a xeno that's more BS than a marine simply committing suicide with a pistol or rifle right? If say they got these xenos would be able to get more hosts alive, but will have to be more defensive or watchful of marines. Marines can't really survive, due to the major xeno update, marine survival is a tad tougher now with xenos buffs and whatnot.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): I have a solution in which will stop salt and increase fun as xeno or marine, simply get rid of both or as a compromise get rid of hand chewing, replacing the time with 3 second time for xeno restraints to be broken, in which allowing marines to escape more. (Do feel free to comment about this or post your opinion/Point of view as marine or Xeno )

Long time ago, I, Ka'Torag-na Halkrath, Skilled Master Hunter Of Prey, Unleashed an unspeakable evil upon Xenos and Humans! But a foolish Xeno Hunter wielder of robustness stepped forth and opposed me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore a gate of Salt of Solitude and flung em into the world of CM, and took out their Facehugger Capabilities! Now, this Xeno Fool seeks to return the favour, and undo my evil reign and of many other predator predecessors!

I'm going out on a limb and thinking that you meant a 30 second timer at the end

It was already said that they will take out hand chewing. Marines can survive, it was proven in the round I was playing in, you just need to have smart people playing SL's and few marines that will listen.

Restraints can be broken, same goes with un-nesting and its not fast, be happy to be able to break out on your own since in the movies they really couldnt.

Being 100% true with the movies would mean a lot of things would be different to the point where I doubt the game could be balanced or even enjoyable.

The problem with nesting is that no matter how its balanced its still going to be a horrible experience for the player. In any video game one of the biggest rules of gaming is to not take control away from the player, and what is happening is that the player is being forced into a situation that they have little control over, with the choice of either ghosting or to wait a while for the hope you may be able to escape.

-----

At the end of the day, unless we effect a massive change to the basic Alien lifecycle that would go against the lore, then we're stuck with this system and one way or the other it HAS to benefit the Aliens more and be reliable overall for the Aliens to use.

Sorry but I think I'll do a -1, the idea isn't bad but I think the marines should rely less on their own abilities to get out of nests and cooperation with squads, coordinating rescues, since you are conscious for quite some time after infection.

I think handcuffs are an unnecessary crutch for xenos, and handchewing suicide defeats the purpose of securing a marine in the nest. Actual escape rates are minimal but the illusion of hope is more fun for the marines and requires the xenos guarding to pay attention and not have a terrible nest design.

+1 from me.

Not going to give it a +1 but I can assure you that unless the marines are really ballsy, there is no way hell "cooperation with squads" and "coordinating rescues" will ever happen. Also, if you are stuck in pain crit, you are screwed.

I don't remember in the alien films aliens being able to handcuff and pull handcuffed people about either , I think securing should be removed entirely OR make them decay after the first escape attempt so that they need to be resecured each time.

You can't argue from a lore perspective because xenos never struggled to move people any distance back to the hive, and it was also impossible to escape a nest once you were secured.

Concessions have to be made considering we're all playing on a Mongolian atmospherics simulator. Cuffs are a necessary evil considering how reliable it is to get out of a nest.

Cuffs aren't necessary with a well-built checkerboard nest, and frankly make it too easy to guard hosts with shitty mass nests

I think you mean sentinels. Drones are wasted guarding hosts.

either of them , drones are generally in the hive more frequently hence they have a responsibility to look out for the hosts aswell.

By the time marines are being captured drones should be out spreading weeds and pheromones, not guarding hosts.

Drones who spend a significant amount of time in the inner hive are likely trash.

Apop made some changes to handchewing, so I'm assuming this is resolved for now.
