Dismemberment warnings

Post by Sarah_U. » 05 Jul 2016, 00:05

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Add warnings and some UI elements for dismemberment.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
It'll lower the lack of knowledge about how and why items can't be picked, why you fall, etc. by showing you you're disabled.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Place an 'X' or some sort of effect on the disabled hand, chat warnings when hand is being used, but can't be and when checking yourself for your condition place some text to show you're not injured, but literally don't have it anymore.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
[N/A]
CM was obviously inspired by Starcraft: Ghost opening. At least when marines takes too long to deploy.

Er... Anyone with you know... common sense would just... check themselves for injury (as in click yourself) and check what's missing...

But you know, whatever... Neutral, I personally thinks it's un-needed.

I would think the sickening cracks were a clue on that the limb was pretty close to coming off, but I suppose a bit more of a clue to doctors as well as the victim would be nice.

How about, on the doll (I have no other name) at the right, showing your overall health, that should start with green, dismembered limbs are turned black?

Bleh. However, it's a good idea. +1.

Thing is, you don't always see it during a tense fight +++ Examining yourself is harsh. It's generally just a quality of life improvement to make everything better.

I reckon it's not TOO HARD to code and would be quite nice to have... Make it toggable if you want just so those ppl that don't like playing with easy-mode don't have it xD

+1, Its funny that as a player, i have to check myself to really find out which leg and arm is missing/broken with a patdown. Thats one of those "in your face" kind of deals i would think.

Also, super annoying as a medic trying to find out where a patient has broken bones. I end up having to tell them to walk around to check where the pain is, which is really bad and super against any medical class that ive tooken. my immurshumns.

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!

This way I can tell somebody is a baldie when they wander back into combat after losing both their arms.

Janina 'Bullseye' Jardine- Never misses, but what she DOES hit is another thing

This place would be so much better if marines were replaced with cyborgs, atleast those would follow orders. assuming there was a rule forcing them to do so...

I coulda sworn this is already a thing on some other servers.

Just a simple X over the missing hand is more than enough to give players fair warning that yes, your hand is a stump now.

The only way i know what i am missing is because i pay very good attention to the logs, i highly doubt the majority of the playerbase can do that and focus on the game at the same time

bump: what would be great is if the little ui box on the bottom showed a grayed out image of the players limbs, so the player knows that they are no longer there.
