Gotta give a +1 here. It just seems like common sense that a riot shield should be able to RNG block a hugger jump,

+1 this would be sick, and make the riot shield better and not for B18's who rush with machetes

Had a round last night as a B18 spec. A carrier took me down about 10 minutes after we got ground because I couldn't fight the huggers. I did machete a ravaged though

Any possibility of hints on what they will turn into?

I'd remove riot shields from marine deployment, but allow them as a CM item for maps like Ice Colony. With that feature it'd be interesting, but allow them to be damaged along with the user so they get reliable for a while untill they get torn appart and the user gotta discard it.

After-all, colonies still uses riot equipment in some cases.

Denied, riot shields won't block huggers especially after hugger combat not being a thing anymore.
