Akimbo Pistols

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Give marines more fun weapons to use

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Akimbo pistols could be a vendable thing then you have to do an offhand hold technically and it'd just fire faster then normal pistols and have more ammo and shit since you'd technically have two.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): just sprite it to show pistols in both hands and some minor code work I guess?

that can actually work, taking two pistols or revolvers, clicking one with the other to "craft" a pair of akimbo handguns, they will have double firing speed, less accuracy and or course, they will be a two handed weapons. +1 because it's something that should be in the code already, you can use a pistol on each hand and try to fire both with the current code, but we all know how that having two pistols is the same as having one because you can't fire both at the same time and you can't make a macro to fire both at the same time.

This is actually on the table. Take gun, shoot gun, your offhand shoots as well. You can pretty much do this with macros, but making it official is possible.

+1. i like the idea of merging two pistols together and you having to use double hands to hold them. ( i want my double revolvers, dream weapon for me) the only problem i see is how do you hook them together and take them apart? Im thinking clicking a pistol with another pistol will do the "attachment" animation where you have to stand still for a second and they will be "linked" up. If you want to take them apart, you need field strip the weapon or maybe have a separate right click text box that says "un-akimbo" weapons? Balance wise, i dont know if the accuracy, size increase,two handed nature, and reloading penalty is enough to keep it "cool" but underused.

When this is added.

Many marines will die because they thought dual pistols were better than a rifle because they looked cooler.

+1, simply because I want to hear people screaming in dead chat, "BUT I HAD FUCKING DUAL WIELD PISTOLS UNLOADING INTO THAT ANCIENT RAVAGER, HOW THE FUCK DID I DIE!? FUCKING BALANCE SUCKS!"

Something along those lines, at least.

We could always try and limit it via implant. Perhaps let them be orderable and default in certain individuals. (Dutch's Dozen comes to mind with dual SMGs)

I figure average marine isn't skilled enough to handle two pistols at once. Especially not two M39s

+1 It's about style points. Yeah it won't be as effective as a rifle, but I want the option to burst out of a closet in the Nexus' crew quarters and run screaming at an alien shooting my pistols at it.

Few ways it could be done, like the 'attached' method described above but honestly I don't think that'd be best. You'd either have to never have attachments on the guns which would be lame, make special 'double attachments' which would be awkward to code, or come up with a code that reads each gun's attachments separately and that would be very complicated I think.

Probably better to add a new weapon function, like burst fire or using an attachment, which just syncs the weapon fire. Then weapons with different attachments and possibly fire rates could still be used, so long as they were in both hands, and could slip in an accuracy penalty too.
