Restrict/Permit evolution button for queen

Post by EXOTICISME » 06 Aug 2016, 15:52

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Allow queen to restrict and permit evolution from certain caste.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): So the queen can micromanage evolution.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): With the current mechanic that the hive can only support some T2 & T3 the queen should have another way to micromanage her hive. With the Restrict/Permit evolution the xenos can or can not evolve further until the Queen allow it. How it should work is like this.
1.Press Restrict/Permit evolution button
2.Choose |Restrict|Permit|
3.Choose a caste, |Runner|Drone|Sentinel|
4.Now the caste can/can't evolve further. Note: The hive will get a message like : The queen has restricted runner from evolving!
I'm sure this will change the gameplay into something better since sometime we get all runners who take the spot of T2 and we can't hive dem tasty hivelord.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):Some coding by coder tears and blood

I think this would be a neat addition, considering the amount of ayylmaos that automatically go into WHATEVER caste they want. Also being a way to choose which alien to 'unrestrict' in their evolution would be nice. +1

We seriously need this, implementing tier restrictions during shitter season was a bad move, but they were needed. Now we need something to actually restrict the evolutions.

This would be great to prevent people from going boiler during low pop. Clogging 1 out of 2 T3 slots with boiler is really stupid.

Caste management is very important for every queen, and despite ordering the perfect balance of evolutions to your brood, it happens that someone wrongly evolves and takes up a spot badly.

Going with -1 what if say the queen is a newbie or an ass decided to restrict everything or perhaps queen has restricted all the xenos and kicked the bucket. Now no drone can turn back into the queen or replace the queen. Just giving a thought for a xenos players side though much of a Marine player Though indeed these intentions are good and may be beneficial then again I see it can possibly backfire as I said in the the situations beginning of this comment.
"Young Carrier (920) (follow) hisses, "Shut up both of you or we aren't going to invade disneyland."

Long time ago, I, Ka'Torag-na Halkrath, Skilled Master Hunter Of Prey, Unleashed an unspeakable evil upon Xenos and Humans! But a foolish Xeno Hunter wielder of robustness stepped forth and opposed me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore a gate of Salt of Solitude and flung em into the world of CM, and took out their Facehugger Capabilities! Now, this Xeno Fool seeks to return the favour, and undo my evil reign and of many other predator predecessors!

If the queen dies then the restriction will be null till there's a 2nd queen evolved. Is not that the T1 xenos that didn't get to evolve will try to KILL the queen by any mean necessary so they can evolve.

If the queen restrict just for meme and generaly being a dick without giving legit explanation when questioned then they are breaking rule 1

+1 Caste management is very influential. Also, there's no reason to discount a suggestion based off of dickish behavior. That's what rules are made for.

I think this is a great idea when used by a good queen against greytide, and will only be a pain in the ass on occasion when a grey queen emerges.

I do think this would really be helpful to xenos, the same way job limits are helpful to marines.

Respectfully Nipple of War,

Boiler/Crusher would be my T3 choice if we only had 2 slots. With carrier recently being moved to only take up a T2 slot instead of T3, mass carriers might be the new mass spitter meta, and 90% of prae I have seen don't use pheromones. Ravagers tend to die very quickly and easily, and the artillery combination of boiler/crusher has turned a lot of desperate games around.

This really needs to be bumped up, this is a huge issue with playing aliens right now. Queen has zero control of the hive evolutions. You can't control who gets jelly and can't control who evolves. For the love of god somebody implement something like this, if you can implement tier restrictions this should have been added with it months ago.

Denied due to the ability to grief players and lack of stable quality Queens.
