Make Predators Visible to Xenos

Post by Biolock » 14 Aug 2016, 10:28

Alright, before anything, let me instate that I have just semi-recently returned to Colonial Marines in force; this may have been mentioned, and could quite possibly have already been the topic of several discussions. I have asked around, however, and no one could make mention of a time it'd been suggested.

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
In the AvP universe, countless times it has been referenced that the xenomorph does not see the same way humans do, often thought of to use pheromone tracking as their primary sense. One thing is for certain, and that is that the Yautja's cloaking systems are rendered useless against these serpents, as they never bother to cloak around Xenomorphs and have been seen striking out at cloaked predators.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): From an out of character perspective, this would further ensure that the predator playing the role is truly playing by the code of honor, ensuring that they never attack a xenomorph while cloaked. Additionally, from a lore perspective, it just makes more sense that the xenos wouldn't be running around with their heads up their asses trying to find some invisible hunter.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
This could be tricky, as the xenos would need to be able to see a cloaked predator whilst the hunter remains cloaked to humans.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
I understand that this may be a difficult thing to code, however, an easy (I use the term easy obliviously) way to implement this system would be to, instead of making the predator visible, give the xenomorphs a hud above the predator's head that remains visible at all times.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

Gameplay, hive gank is a very common occurrence, preds will be neutralized in every round in short order.

If im not mistaken within the avp universe their cloak does allow them to hide from xenos aswell?
Will find out by tuesday for sure.

On AvP 2010 predators are still cloaked to xeno's but they have a red outline that marine's don't see.
I would +1 something to make preds a bit more visible to xenos.

Neutral. if something was given to preds to keep their mask in place, or they were given a buff, or anything really, i'd support this. But as it stands, all it takes is 1 or 2 runners with lucky RNG, a hugger, and you're dead. It gets worse when you factor in xenos will antagonize a pred, run away and cause it to chase them, only for it to, oh look at that, it's the queen and the entire possie here to help their little child who's being 'bullied'.

Xenos can see a white outline of a cloaked predator, but it is difficult to make out in lit areas or snow.

However, if the xeno toggles their darksight, then the white outline is on a black background and easy to see.

Preds are a challenge to track, as it should be.

Yup. But I'm assuming Biolock hasn't heard the trick of toggling darkvison, which makes it nearly impossible to track a pred.

Not impossible, just more fun.

In all AvP games I played xenos can't see predators in cloak any better than humans. Uncanon. -1.

Actually avp.wiki states that Xenomorphs are able "to 'sense' the Yautja warrior even when the cloak is engaged" citing AVP3.

Dark sight works pretty well. Not sure why this is needed.
