Emergency Sleeper Lock

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): A mechanic that disables new players joining the game once the Aliens use the console to go up, due to how many people get instantly killed upon joining in the later stages of a round.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Prevents people from dying upon joining a late round, which can cause a lot of salt.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): As stated above.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Have the verb used by Staff to turn off new players joining the game be activated when the Queen uses the shuttle console, I think. I'm no coder.

This one wasn't me... but I'm still surprised by why it gets shot down with so much vehemence. Don't try to explain, I've heard and understand your objections, I just disagree.

You see, CM isn't just a 30-players SS13 stuff. We have rounds with playercap going straight up to 160 and it adds some very specific gameplay issues like: alright, you'll block latejoin, 40%+ (basically up to 100% as time goes on) of players will have to wait as observers or be forced to play aliens. In long rounds full personnel rotation is quite common.

In case of latejoin affecting balance too much, admins blocks it at least until invasion is repelled, which basically fix your problem, but doesn't add any new ones like "queen sits next to console and touches it to prevent reinforcements" (if it hardcoded) etc, and those will need even more rules and fixes to prevent abuse of "sleeper lock" system.

Please, stop posting this idea. We don't have it for a good reason.

I can potentially see something along the lines of if weeds and x amount of aliens are situated in the cryo room then late joining will be locked for marines. (It would probably have to be one tier 3 and one tier 2 in the cryo room along with weeds to get a lockdown of the spawning, well something like that.)

That's just a thought anyway.

At the very least maybe prevent spawns if an evac is called? At that point there's a maximum of about 25 minutes remaining on the round anyway
