Can Create new Camera helmets with camera assemblies

Post by KingKire » 27 Aug 2016, 10:21

Summary:
Combining a Camera Assembly with a Helmet can create a new Camera Helmet

Benefits:
This gives a little more things to do for engineers, cargo, and research. It also gives extra help to bridge officers using the camera network.

Details:
I had a few thoughts on this one, from simple to more complex to help balance out power from having more cameras.

Options:
A) Pick up a Camera Assembly, Add 2 steel plates together to create camera helmet assembly. Then Screw driver/wrench it together, add 5 wires, and weld together to create an unused Camera Helmet assembly. Attach to a helmet, and weld/screwdriver it together to create a Camera Helmet.
-Turning on the camera assigns it to whatever the squads camera network is.
-This process cannot be undone(or maybe it can be?).
-Can be switched out for 2 plasteel plates instead for balance? (im thinking plasteel would be the way to go)

B) A new item, Camera Helmet Assemblies, can be ordered from cargos list, 20 points for 5 Camera Helmet Assemblies.
-My only issue is that you can order plasteel and make helmets for cheaper. I dont know if the extra work to make the helmets is worth the cargo points saved.
(im thinking yes)
-These are only the helmet assemblies, not the whole helmet. You still need to screwdriver the assembly to the helmet, but there is no need to weld, wire, or add plates, its already pre-constructed. (or maybe you still need to wire and weld it up, but it definitly wouldnt need plates)

C) Research can do some research to create the Camera helmet assembly? Possibly use a technology Disk to allow auto-lathes to mass produce them

My thoughts are that i like having both options A and B, but C might be a good way to limit the amount of cameras available. My only thoughts on C is that it still gives a little too much stuff to do on research's side, and i think engineering should receive a boost in what it can do to help out the ground.

Camera Helmets can only take one hit from a hugger to be cracked like normal helmets, they are not squad leader helmets.

...

But seriously, does uh, anyone know the way out?!

+1 seems good, would stop command staff shouting at an SL to go pick up his/her helmet because it their only way of knowing whats going on.

1+ for Engineering work and eyes on the ground lasting more than one xeno encounter.

+1, my only concern is that it requires competent Sulaco staff on the bridge, in req, and for the researcher.

There's going to be another system in place instead. Adding cameras to helmets as suggested won't be possible though. Resolved.
