Attachment vendors to assist Requisitions

Post by Terminutter » 04 Oct 2016, 10:44

Summary: Provide attachment vending machines that will allow marines to receive their attachments in exchange for tokens marines are issued with / cash. These machines would still be limited in stock, and attachments that normally go to specialists e.t.c such as the barrel charger, RDS are ID locked to be issued to specialists, SLs e.t.c.

Benefits: This would hopefully stem the tide of people breaking into Req near every round that there are no cargo staff available. It would also expedite the process of marines getting their "standard" attachments, while keeping the "desirable" attachments in the hands of specialists e.t.c. The Req department would still have a job, but would be there to assist in deviation from the norm.

Details: There are two ways that I can think of this being done:

1) Issue regular marines with 2 tokens upon spawn. These tokens are inserted into a special attachment vendor that allows the marines to then withdraw "basic" attachments like bayonets, flashlights, extended barrels and such. Specialists, SL and such might get advanced tokens that allow them to select two advanced attachments, instead, if they want.

2) Utilise the money system in the code, give marines a set amount of spessbux that they can then use to purchase the attachments from the machine. Give specialists and such more starting funds, and lock out the "advanced" attachments out that way.

The Req department would still be able to override this and issue attachments as they feel necessary, with techs being able to restock the attachment machines (the number of attachments the ship starts off with is the same) and withdraw attachments at no cost, to allow for the Req department to deviate from the "standard loadout options" on request. Things like webbing and special gear would still be the RO's domain, and he would still maintain authority over attachments.

This would then allow Req to focus on other parts of their job, and stops the "not fun" part of spending 10 minutes chucking attachments at every marine who runs up yelling "RDS, barrel charger" while getting yelled at, and screaming "WE ARE OUT OF ____". It should also stop Req being near continuously broken into, with MPs not attempting to stop it.

Implementation: This can be implemented with coding and mapping support, and can likely be done through tampering with vending machine code or similar.

Ok, I sense this might not be a popular suggestion, but I'm just throwing an idea out there. I don't want Req replaced or anything, I just want the tediousness reduced, and allow people to focus on other areas than mindlessly running to Req for their standard loadout.

Of course, attachments are a PRIVILEGE, not a right. You lose them, don't expect RO to bail you out.

Because people think that making things needlessly inconvenient is the same making things fun.

Anyways +1 for the idea even if it'll never happen.

Requisitions has two lines now, I don't believe this is an issue any longer.

Asking this to be locked.

This would take too much away from Requisitions gameplay. Denied.
