Spitter Detonates Fuel Tanks

Bug Description: Spitter spit blows up fuel tanks.


Steps to reproduce:
1. Spit at fuel tank a few times.
2. It explodes.
3. Read above.

thats intended i think, spitters can melt stuff from afar like tables barricades walls tanks etc, but the diffrence between that and the normal acid is the ranged spit acts as a bullet, for example it melt a wall to a grider then to metal, and blows tanks instead of instant melt

I think this only works with acid spit, since stun spit doesn't have melting power.

The acid causes a chain reaction with the fuel, making it explode horribly... Even if it isn't realistic, it is hilarious to blow up marines with it.. But that is only if marines stood near them, which isn't very common.

actually marines sometimes cheesed xenos by using it as cover and slowly pushing it towards them to explode aoe stun xenos, mostly in hangar

Because I talked to a mentor after it happened and apparently it's powergaming when xenos do it because they're not supposed to be able to.

I would think Context is a very crucial in this case, Deso.... Fact is if the marines are using the tank as cover (which is idiotic is so many ways), sure xenos can spit at them but xenos shouldn't be outright targeting these things

Unsure on this one. If there's no reasonable way the fuel tanks would actually ignite, then probably a bug. But I'm not a chemist.

I think acid + highly combustible fuel = explosion. So, just my opinion on this matter but I will leave this one up to the dev team.

Well.... sort of. It would depend on both the welding fuel and the acid, if there was something external to ignite the welding fuel sure, but to my understanding acid only creates heat in excess when mixed with water. Please correct me if I'm wrong but to my understanding no matter how strong the acid is it WON'T ignite every kind of flammable liquid, but it might ignite depending on the type of welding fuel used (oxy-acetelyne which to my understanding wouldn't ignite) and less on the fact that it's a super strong acid.

(sorry for the poor wording and what-not, I'm rather tired)

Yes, I know that it's highly explosive, but would increasing the concentration of hydrogen ions make it explode (what acids do iirc)? I mean if there's oxygen in it, the increase in hydrogen could potentially start to form water molecules which the acid could have an exothermic reaction with and explode, but would that happen is my question.

While that stands true with fuels such as propane and sorts, the cans in CM are full of welding fuel which has different chemical properties than other less volatile fuels.

Which is...? The vids of oxy-acetylene explosions that were posted weren't just being shot. The only acetylene shooting vids I could find involved a fire source next to the cannister.

One cannot and should not assume that the fuel being utilized in CM is an Oxygen-Acetylene gas. It could be any number of other factual and/or fictional mixtures.

K. One that explodes when shot OR spit. There, done, as real-world properties would cause real-world fuels to not detonate in either case.
