Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Code backpacks/satchels/armor slots/webbing to carry items based on size instead of slot count.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Improve marine based game-play, which will hopefully improve server mood and realism overall.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): By basing the slots in a capacity based item to carry a number of items based on size instead of slot capacity, players are able to save space for precious items. Instead of a backpack being stuffed to capacity with 7 Speedloaders (which is totally unrealistic), the pack could carry those same 7 speedloaders, 5 mags of M41A, two flare pouches etc.
Suggestion is to have a max capacity of 20 small items, 10 normal items or 5 large items, with variation in between for mixed loadouts. The bag itself would have a maximum space of 20, which could then be divided up amongst item sizes, such as:
1 Large Item (4 space each)
5 Normal Items (2 spaces each for a total of 10)
8 small items (1 space each for a total of 8 items)
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): I'd suggest asking other coders from other servers unless you know how to do it. I know Aurora managed to get it done (at least with their hydroponics bags)

They actually do this already, it's just not very well implemented.

Everyone item has weight associated with it. Its not limited by slots. You can have 2 lines of 'slots' if you carry many small items. Example: Flasks and ammoDamarik wrote:What do you mean by "not very well implemented"? Example?

Warnipple is basically correct. Storage items are still limited by total slots though; so you can't carry too many items, even if they are light.Damarik wrote:What do you mean by "not very well implemented"? Example?

Then maybe not do that. Remove total slot limit, this would be great for medics so I dont have to squeeze 3 SMG mags into my backpack with my medical shit. Same for Engi
