Nest breakout cancelled when in crit

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Make it so the "resist again to break free!" doesn't work if your character is unable to move.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): You won't waste escape attempts because the pile of bad decisions that is paincrit keeps you able to resist out of the nest, but unable to stand up.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Covered up above.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Some sorta check if the character will be able to stand up required to break out.

Ehhh I'd rather not have this. Being able to bounce and bleed out before popping is sometimes the last 'fuck you' to the aliens you can give.

But if you break out of the nest while unable to stand, what are you going to do? You can't do the last "fuck you" in any way, you just wasted an escape attempt.

The nest boosts the growth speed of the chest burster, so even if you're paralyzed and potentially bleeding out or are about to die. You remove yourself from the nest, and that gives you enough time to die. A host dying before it can give birth to a xeno is a massive fuck you to the Xenos who went out of the way to grab you.


Obviously, I don't do this unless my character has either witnessed or has intel on what happens to captured marines.

eh neutral.On one hand I get what you're saying but I also feel this will somehow increase the amount of paincritting before nesting.I have no idea how but I have a feeling it will somehow

-1 you are going to be too unconscious or in pain to break out of the nest anyways if this is the case. It is the player's choice to break out or not.

That's the thing. This is not currently implemented. Being in pain does not stop you from breaking out. You "break out" and flop on the ground unable to do anything.

But you have to manually choose to hit "resist" again. So if you hit it again while you are in critical and can't do anything, that is your own fault.

There is no indication if you will be able to do anything or not. Sometimes you walk while your HUD flashes with the deepest shade of crit. Sometimes you're paralyzed at orange health.

Isn't pain crit generally accompanied by a bunch of red text messages saying things like "Dear god, the pain!", or "Your entire body goes numb!", or "MarineName McDeadNestedGuy's body goes limp!"? Kind of obvious indicators that you won't be able to stand. And even if you could stand you'll just get cornerspat by a spitter and then renested easy peasy, or the queen will use her 250 plasma screech ability to tuck you back into your warm cozy resin nest sleeping bag.

How would you IC know that? I am tempted to go through with this, only because that's meta as hell.

Can we just have it kill marines if they are in crit and STILL allow the timer for bursting? if thats even possible?

Same way ayys know what mines look like or that floor tiles=mines. Same way Ayys know what an OB Beacon is and clear away from it, even when they haven't seen either of them.

What I want to see is crawling when you're in crit. If I can crawl away without having to cut my feet off, that'd be nice
