Inappropriate Screams

Post by quarantinetimer » 19 Nov 2016, 09:36

Bug Description:
While doing surgery, the patient screams several times during the process, despite being under general anesthesia. This led to worried statements by those who heard the screams.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Operate. (with anesthetics)
2. Note bugged screams

Note: These bugged screams appear to manifest only occasionally. Since I'm not a tester, I have not been able to identify links between instances

I think they will only scream when you hurt them somehow, like by messing up something, breaking their bones, or surgery steps that deal brute damage. Or if they have lung damage and the anesthesia isn't working.

1. IF the anesthesia IS functioning as intended AND the surgery IS hurting the patient, THEN they should NOT be able to scream because they are incapable of doing so.
2. IF the anesthesia IS NOT functioning as intended AND the surgery IS hurting the patient, THEN they should be ABLE to scream.

Did you forget to turn internals on?

Nope. I actually called for admin assistance at the time, and was told to file a report here. Presumably, they did check whether the internals were on or not.

OK, did you put the tank on his back and the mask on his face in the strip menu, and go down to the bottom to the "set internals" button and press it?

Can confim. If any bones break during surgery they will scream even if under anesthesia.

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure it's been like that as long as I can remember. Only stands out now because screams make noise now instead of being confined in our little torture chambers (aka operating theatre).

Of course I checked everything once before asking for administrator assistance, just to be extra-sure that I wasn't going to embarrass myself.

This has been a thing since before I even became a trial mod. Technically if you knocked out with medication, such as anesthetic, you would never feel pain. So you would not be able to make noise or react to stimuli at all.

This is because being unconscious still lets you perform the noise-emitting actions including screams, which is a known bug.
