INFINITE DISPOSAL LOOP, OVERPOWERED, AND EXTREME POWERGAMING

Post by EstangaJr0830 » 26 Nov 2016, 18:47

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Pretty much, if you make a disposal entry and a loop at any area of the ship the xenos are advancing to, and when you do this, they die inside of it.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): IT'LL PREVENT EXCESSIVE POWERGAMING.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): They would prevent engineers from making excessive use and abuse of disposal loops.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Admins will just prevent the building of them.

It's a trap that can be seen pretty clearly and will only be walked into by unobservant players.

You can't just ban every improvised thing that engineering can possibly do. In the future, you can see the signs of this kind of trap and not fall for it in the future.

-1. Someone appears upset about that disposals trap I made last game.

I was the spitter who saw it and melted it while you rushed in. If it was a mine, egrill, or grenade with 'rines around, you'd be just as dead.

EDIT- I was kinda surprised that like 5 ayys walked in AFTER you... but meh.

I disagree that it can be seen, Since the entrance can be hidden under airlocks. it also is really easy to spam them all over the place if you're remotely fast at building them. It doesn't make sense that a 20 foot tall scythe-clawed monstrosity could get stuck in a dinky garbage chute. And then DIE from it.

This is pretty much... The last gimmick-y thing Engineers can do. If it's removed, why not remove the MT position entirely and replace SM with fully-charged batteries? Because at this point it stops being a role in a game, it becomes a job.

Why not remove every role that doesn't have "fun", gimmicky things to do? Like all of command, including the MPs? We might not have a game at that point at all, but I digress. Disposal traps, which are not really traps at all, only work because of SS13 extremely wonky disposal system, not because they make any sort of sense. I don't think this will be staying, but it's not really a huge problem as far as I'm aware.

Can we stop trying to nerf engineering? Please? It makes it less fun, and if there's nothing creative to do, no one will play the job. I have a REAL LIFE job working as an ET for the Navy. That's about as close to MT as you can get, and the reason I still play it, despite it being a NEAR duplicate of my TWELVE HOUR A DAY job, is because of all the fun things you can do, because it's a GAME.

On the other hand, Sur... try not to do this every round. You HAVEN'T been, but just putting that out there. Just because we have access to an OP strat, does not mean we gotta use it every chance we can.

I do all kinds of shit as Engineering; upgrade the dropships, vendors, install cameras, and so on. When it comes to defense, the disposal trap is only one component, but it's a very important one, especially when combined with vacuum loops, without which the capabilities of the CE/MT would be gimped, so it sees regular use.

If the powers that be want to rob the MT/CE of its most potent tools, then fuck those roles; you already can't use phoron fires, and so far as I'm aware atmos bombs have been nerfed and their triggering mechanisms not yet fully fixed, so what's the point?

Atmos bombs are still intact, just don't use voice analyzers, and cross your fingers.
