Banned by Host: U31OCT17 - ERP Announcements during Purge Round. We had 3 rules, all with PERMABAN for the punishment.

I was playing as XO Apache during the purge, meming through the announcements. One of those announcements was a reworked version of the "Shrek is Love" Copypasta for Colonial Marines. In retrospect, probably a poor decision on my part. I also heard that I was also "raging in the Discord", but to my knowledge, I was banned from the discord before being banned from the server.

I don't really have a defense. I know what I did was in poor taste, but I personally don't think it's deserving a permaban. I took the whole purge idea and ran with it a bit too far. I've been a good player and roleplayer throughout my time on the server, spanning back even as far as the old ship map, and I'd like to get back on the server.

ERP is permanent and rarely lifted.

The fact that you somehow managed to get perma-banned during the one time we had only 3 rules is also a feat in itself.

We literally had 3 rules, which said that breaking those 3 would result in a Ban. The ONLY possible way to get a permaban, was to ERP or do a WGW or similar.

We are KNOWN to ban people for it, it's in the rules.

like, do I need to put links to people who do WGW or similar getting their appeals denied in the rule as well, so that people see WE TAKE THIS SHIT SERIOUSLY?

I do take no ERP seriously. I'm an admin on Drymouth Gulch and I was one of the louder supporters of removing ERP from our server, which has now been done.

But I was thinking that a well known copypasta in a purge round wouldn't be counted as ERP. Like I said, I apologise for that, I'm definitely in agreement I fucked up, but I think a perma for an admittedly off-colour meme may be a bit of a stretch. It's been about a month, and I'm of the opinion that I've done my time.

Our rules specifically state that WGW is considered on the level of ERP.
There's another person trying to appeal a WGW ban right now as well.
The thing is, ANYTHING sexually related, is typically a Permaban. I can count on one hand the exception we've made to that in the last several years, and never in less than a year.

One one side, I think maybe we can let this get lifted being you didn't have much other major notes, but at the same time, you posted ERP during the purge when it was stated multiple times what the three rules were. Like the only way you could have gotten in any trouble is if you really fucked up. I'm pretty torn on this one myself, so I'm just going to leave the call to Apop and Feweh, which isn't looking good.

Yeah, my bad here was my interpretation of what is and isn't ERP. I was thinking to myself as I was doing it "this is borderline, but it's a well known copypasta meme, so it should be okay." I was wrong.

Don't bump your own appeal. Permabans are our lowest priority and only Apop can lift them. He'll get around to it when he gets around to it.

That being said, I'm against this being removed. If you managed to get yourself permabanned during a time where we literally only had 3 rules, you pretty much deserve to take that L.

There are a few WGW Permabans. They are all "on hold" because we need to have a staff meeting to discuss our policy on them.

After headstaff discussion, we have agreed to lift the WGW permabans. HOWEVER, you will have a 30 day probation where ANY rule infraction (at all) MAY result in the return of your Permaban. So, read the rules and don't shit around.

Also, know that when the probation ends you will still have notes that will affect ban times. Most likely extending them.
