Reason for ban: If you do not provide this EXACTLY you can't be unbanned): The moderator that banned me said that I had started a gun battle on the dropship by firing at a MP. Now I do admit that I did shoot the MP. I thought that since we where trying to take over the dropship that MP's approaching us with riot gear would mean we could shoot them when they tried to arrest us. This might be wrong and for that I am sorry. But I didn't start a gun battle, I fired a single shot at the riot MP and then I ran, they cornered me in the south side of the drop ship and arrested me. Only after I had been arrested did a gun battle break out on the ship. If anything I think one of the MP's started the gun battle. Also the moderator said that I didn't respond to his pm and the only reason for that was cause I didn't see it till after I had been banned and scrolled back up through the chat log. He only gave me one chance to explain myself before he banned which I think is unfair, especially considering that by only pm'ing me once I didn't see it! Again I am sorry for shooting the MP I was unaware that it was against the rules at the time.

I was also on the dropship, one of the MP's shot me with a riot shotgun and continued to shoot me dead even after I was in critical. once that happened, the other marines started shooting towards the MP, and then everything went downhill.

Him (The MP) shooting me dead is what caused the other marines who were on board the ship to start firing, from what I saw. That's my point of view of how the gunfight actually started.

Ah my bad, like I said I didn't see the Pm's till after I was banned. Also it says in the ban that I was the cause of a "shoot-out", which is the same as a gunfight in my opinion.

My shot at the MP didn't start it. After I fired I ran, I was just trying to keep the MP away from me and I had no idea how to take down a MP in riot gear with a shield. But it was only after I had been tased did the actual firefight start. There was a long pause between me firing my shot and the actual firefight breaking out. It was the MP arresting me that start the true firefight, even though I did shoot the MP I was gonna get arrested anyways because we where illegally taking over the dropship.

I can personally understand how a new player, as MP can get caught up in a worsening situation, and make a panic judgment call that led to the Moderator Messaging you.

However, I don't understand why you didn't respond to the 3 Moderator PM's. Could you clarify why you didn't respond? It makes a loud "BWOINK" Sound, and is pretty clear in chat.

Honestly I'm not sure how I didn't hear this noise you speak of. My only guess is that after I got back to the planet (cause the MP's forgot about me after the shooting started), the battle that was raging on the surface made it hard to hear? I was getting spammed with people talking after the event both from people on the surface and in my squad chat. Also I had one of the top tabs pulled up at the top cause I was trying to get out of my hand cuffs (resisting). I am very new to this game and this is the only server I play on so I don't much experience with these situations.

The problem with things like these are just because you didn't fire the shot that lead to the full out shooting, you fired the first shot that set the whole thing into motion. When someone sees someone shooting at an MP, it's only time before more people start to get involved. As for the PM sound, there's almost no way you can not hear it unless you literally just have your sound off. Even the chat log itself is brightly colored so it's seriously hard to miss.

Like I said before I was heavily distracted by the events of the game. Also this was the first infected game I had ever played, so I had no idea which sounds where part of the game or a private message. Clearly me shooting the MP was the wrong move in situation, but I was unsure of how to handle the situation. Again I am a newb and I was dragged into a plot to take the dropship, which I personally thought was some kind of a mutiny. I just panicked in the moment a MP in full riot gear was bearing down on me and I shot. I think most people would have shot if put a similar position where it was either arrest or a fight. Again the situation I was in I thought it was ok to have my weapon out and loaded when we where trying to seize the dropship. Based off the events that had already transpired on the ship/planet we where breaking all the marine rules set by our commander in the op by breaking into the ship and trying to steal it.

Then we should agree that you have to sit this one out. You understood what happened, learnt the lesson and, I hope, won't repeat this.

Noone will permanently ban you for current infraction, but if this repeats, it will get worse.

Basically I think the ban should stay, but if it will be held against you- feel free to link them this topic so we see that your infraction was not out of malice but because you were new
