Reason for ban (If you have a Permaban, it should be the EXACT MESSAGE YOU GET WHEN YOU LOGIN with the Error code that looks like this: X##XXX##. If you do not provide this EXACTLY you can't be unbanned): I was banned for, what the admin thought at least, going down on the colony without permission and outside of FOB. Also, got a 3 hour ban for that.

Link to previous appeals for the same ban (if applicable): I would link the other case I was job banned from research, but I don't believe it applies, since for that one I did go down without permission, unlike this one

Your appeal, including evidence (screenshots, etc):I hope the admins can get chat logs to prove my points, but here's a resume of what happened:

Round started, I saw it was LV-624. Normally, seeing as research is stale if not for some RP, I make little projects for me to do something. These vary from distributing antidepressives to the crew, trying my luck at prays, or making a research outpost at FOB. I decided, then, to go down and write some papers about LV-624's fauna and flora. Of course, I would need approval of the CMO and/or command.

You see, I am well-versed on the subject of getting permission before doing something out of the standards, so I find it silly someone would believe I would willingly try my luck against the rules and go shoot aliens without permission.

I left my lab and headed to CIC to get the CO's approval, since the CMO wasn't present/hadn't manifested himself prior. A LT was on the way there, so I entered easily. Talking to the XO about the project, I managed to convince him to let me deploy. He, of course, said I was to be careful and all, not to stray away from marines, and that he was going to assign me to a scout squad of his choosing. Of course, if I remembered the specific rule that I cannot leave FOB I would have expressed myself.
One thing I got to note from this is that I MESSAGED THE CMO THROUGH THE RADIO, SAYING I WAS DEPLOYING. Keep this in mind.

I then headed to get my equipment (paper, pen, bio-suit) and went down on medbay. I encountered the CMO, whom I asked to get me a clipboard. He asked why I needed, which I responded to that I was deploying. He asked if he could confirm that with Command, and I agreed. After what I assumed was an positive from CIC (since I don't hear command channel as a researcher), he told me to be careful, to come back when he ordered me to, yadda yadda.

I then proceeded to briefing. After the XO briefed the marines (since the commander had just woken mere minutes before), I asked him what squad I would go with. He said I was going with alpha.

I then headed to the DS1. I told alpha I was going with them, had a chat with their SL in medical radio, all was good to go.

Landing, the marines rushed into the dome. Hugger traps activated, and my character had his first glimpse of LV's fauna. Of course, not a farwa or a monkey as he expected. I took pictures, started writing some notes, etc. I then headed inside the dome, since I remembered I was to stick with alpha, and everyone was leaving LZ1 and Alamo had left. Then I made the only mistake I believe I should be accounted for, I followed them to hydro.

In hydro, while writing the report I was making before, Aceluke123 contacted me and asked why I was down and not on FOB. I said I had permission and that I was studying the fauna and flora. He then said it was against the rules for me to be outside of FOB, which I replied I was ordered to stick with alpha. I didn't mean that I was right in doing so, just trying to say why I did it. Some messages later, Aceluke decided that I didn't have permission, which was not true as I stated above and placed the job ban, which if I remember correctly said I was job banned for going planetside outside of FOB and "Without even the CMO's approval". Soon after, I sent an Ahelp to say I did have approval, to which he gave me a 3 hour ban.



So, firstly, I believe the admin in question did not judge this case well enough, since there is a lot of difference between leaving FOB and going down without orders. In that specific rule, it says that NOT GETTING A PERMISSION results in a job ban; however I HAD PERMISSION. I admit that I did make a mistake by wandering off FOB, but I can't see how this would warrant a job ban instead of a warning. Secondly, this was not a "unga dunga I didn't get marine but wanna shoot xeno" moment, since I did RP it and did write said report and took pictures.

I hope chat logs can be pulled to confirm all that I have stated above. I don't play researcher to break rules, I play it for RP, and I think a mistake such as the one I did isn't enough to job ban me from it.

I do believe the reason the jobban was placed due to the fact that you had been previously banned from Researcher for breaking the same rule.

In the note for the ban it says you claimed you didn't know the rules. You didn't think it would be a good idea to read up on them and know what's good and what's not even after having your permaban lifted?

I did read the rules, but what I claim is that I moved out of FOB more in a reflex to not be abandoned and subsequentialy killed, and at the time I forgot about that section of the rule. I didn't mean to do it on purpose

Edit: to make clear, I was focusing on not getting lost from alpha. I could have stayed at Nexus FOB tho.

Seems to me like you know well enough what you are doing to be able to play the researcher role. Looks like you had no mallicious intent, it's not like you were hunting xenos or anything. I'd be fine with seeing the jobban lifted.

Well, that's the point I am trying to make. I've done (authorized) trips to the surface many times to roleplay, usually making research outposts and reports

You've been staying out of trouble recently so we'll give you one more shot for researcher but if you get yourself banned a third time for researcher, it's on you. Resolved - Researcher job-ban lifted.
