Your Byond ID:
Zhan Long
Character Name:
Warren Alister
Type Of Ban (Job-ban (include the job), Timed Ban, Permaban):
Job-Ban (Xenomorph)
Admin who banned you (if known):
kerek
What other servers do you play on?
Paradise, Citadel, /tg/ (although rarely)
Are you now or have you been banned on any servers? Which ones?
Colonial Marines: 24-Hour ban (now expired) - simultaneously with the Job-ban, for the same reason
Reason for ban (If you have a Permaban, it should be the EXACT MESSAGE YOU GET WHEN YOU LOGIN with the Error code that looks like this: X##XXX##. If you do not provide this EXACTLY you can't be unbanned):
Suicide as Larva
Your appeal, including evidence (screenshots, etc):
On the April 24rd, at about 3:20 AM (CEST) I was banned from playing as a Xenomorph, along with a 24-Hour ban that has already expired, for Suicide as a Larva.
However, I did not die on purpose. At the moment of spawning as Larva, I had been in Ghost mode for about an hour, watching the game from the sidelines. I was so engrossed in watching the Xenos and Marines battle it out, and in particular one lone Runner infiltrating the Marines' ship, that I forgot that my preference for spawning as a Xeno was turned on. As I spawned as a Larva, I was disoriented and confused, so I moved around to get my bearings, believing I was still a Ghost.
Unfortunately, I turned out to be wrong in that regard, and noticedtoo late that I was, in fact, a Larva, not a Ghost. Or at least I noticed it as soon as the Marine's gunfire actually damaged me. Once I realized that I could get hurt, I tried to retreat into cover. This came too late, as machine gun fire soon killed the Larva I was playing as.
A few seconds after my demise, I got a PM from the Admin, that being kerek, warning me that if I died it would result in a ban. Presumably, kerek didn't expect me to die that fast. Soon enough, I was teleported into the shape of a monkey in the brig for a few seconds, until the (now expired) 24-Hour ban started.
Shorter version: I did not intend to die, but rather moved into the Marines' gunline on accident, as I was confused from the sudden shift to being active player again, after spending an extended period of time watching as a Ghost.
I am aware that the decision about this lies solely with the admins, and I know that kerek couldn't have possibly known that it was an accident, but I still wanted to state my own view on the matter. I like this server, even though I'm still new to it, and don't want to miss out on being a xeno as it is one of the most fun parts of it. So please consider my Appeal if you can spare the time.

If I notice you, good job. It means you're probably worth my time.

Re: Job-Ban (Xenomorph)
Some relevant logs:
You made use of hivemind, thinking you were a ghost? You asked about the siege and then seemingly ran straight into gunfire. As far as the situation went it seemed likely you just rushed to tcomms to suicide if the queen was anywhere other than the frontline, as well as never really answering the PM sent to you about that. Another xeno had told you to go back before you died which you seemed to happen to ignore as well. The reason was a bit mistaken with another thing that had occurred at the time, but the bans seem appropriately enough placed for what was noticed.
Besides what you've said about what occurred, can you give any other reasons for the xeno bans to be lifted?

Re: Job-Ban (Xenomorph)
From what I saw, I saw a larva right next to tcomms where the MG was firing. You were sitting there where you could’ve easily died, then never replied to my PM. I thought you logged out so I placed the ban. I’m neutral on the ban being lifted since it seemed intentional from where you were.
Edit : I was dealing with two ahelps at the time, and thought you PM’d something snarky to me. I’d be alright with this being lifted.

I actively tried to retreat, I didn't just sit in the firing line and get killed by enemy fire. The nest with the infected Marine was also relatively close to the frontline.Solarmare wrote: ↑25 Apr 2018, 18:49Some relevant logs:

The PM I never answered because I wasn't sure how to deal with it. If I get such a message I usually tend to just shut up before I say something wrong that worsens the situation.
As for the short log-out at 20:06:02, that was likely my internet connection. Sometimes, even on other servers, I get disconnected for a moment for no reason.
As for reasons why the ban should be lifted: Apart from what I already stated and my desire not to be locked off from one of the most fun parts of the game, I have nothing else to say. But as I said: In the end, the decision lies with the Admins. And whatever it may be, I will accept it with no further complaint.

Re: Job-Ban (Xenomorph)
This looks like mostly a new player mistake so we'll lift the Xeno part for you. In the future, avoid danger zones when you're a larva. Resolved - Xeno (full) job-ban lifted.
Ban Appeal Users: If I've lifted your perma ban and you're still unable to log onto the server, send me a forum PM regarding it and I'll work to get it fixed in ~24 hours.
