Right, I'll explain the story as I did earlier to Apop.

I recently came back to CM after an extended leave because SS13 got old to me. But of course I came back because I had the itch that only 2D spacemen can fill. I'm sitting on discord hanging out and doing not much else, chatting with some assorted people on other games and generally just passing time until the match ends. I receive a ping from from friend (Not gonna state his name here to protect his own embarrassment) sending me a link and like the bored moron I am I decide to click on it and it opens up to a porn picture because why wouldn't the link. He apologies and says something along the line of "Sorry, that was for *name*" to which I reply that it's fine and to keep his stuff to himself and I move on with my life. I am still sitting in a private discord chat with a friend when he asks me why *name* kept saying he fucked up to which like the kind friend I am I sneakily copy the link and go to throw it at him to show why. When I tab over after copying it however I am back on CM and in the rolling text of DChat is the link. I accidentally slammed a button or something or had a text box open without realizing it or something I didn't realize and it pasted sending it into the server by accident.

Regardless of the story the meat is down here, I accidentally pasted some porn into the Dchat and then promptly booted myself out in my momentary freak out that I actually did that and when I came back I saw the message above. I contacted Apop and explained my situation to which he said I can attempt to appeal it and here I am.

I'd like to apologize to anyone who saw the image because of course some of you aren't +18 and shouldn't be seeing that sort of thing. I understand I screwed up bad and broke one of those rule's clearly stated that in most cases is hard to break without malicious intent. If appeal staff decides I am guilty and am not to return I will accept the consequences of my fuckup.

Accidents happen and I feel as if anyone should be afforded at least one second chance. In my view the rule is more so about intent rather than the exact nature of the content itself, and I don't believe you had any malicious or untoward intent - I think it was a mistake, as you say it was. Your note history speaks in your favour as well (although admittedly I don't know how much you've been playing recently, if at all). As I understand you were a staff member in the past, too.

+1 to unban, for what it's worth.

But at the end of the day you posted a link to a pornographic picture in Dchat for 50 other people to see. This is the rule we have the strongest stance on and I think we need to continue to have a very strong stance on it. Lots of people like you. But that shouldn't give you a free pass on this.

Don't worry I'm not expecting a free pass on this one for sure. I broke a rule, a very explicit rule that's clearly stated and as past staff I understand things need to be held up to code. Like I stated before I will willingly accept the consequences of my actions regardless what the appeals team decides for me.

I don't support this appeal, at best you should still serve the full seven days, unlike others I don't really know you as a player or a mod.

Regardless, you practically still copied and pasted practically explicit material to everyone on dchat, disregarding circumstances that might have been forged.

Normally with cases like this it would be straight perma.

Rules are rules and this was one broken, however, the goal of us taking action against a rule violation is to get the player to understand why what they did was wrong, be it a punishment or a warning. I don't foresee this problem in the future with headcrab and he's already received a 7-day ban, so I wouldn't be against leaving it at that. That said, I also don't think a perma is unfair to be lifted in the future. I don't believe this should hold an infinite duration, though there is still a need for some base punishment.

I feel like, this would have been very out of character for you to do if it was malicious and I believe that it was indeed an accident.
Because of your past history with us as a player and a former staff member and generally being in pretty much good standings as long as I can remember, I think we'll skip the Perma on this and leave the 7 day ban. However, if it happens again, I don't expect we'd be so understanding.
